He's a well-traveled Aussie and for many years worked as a "tuna spotter" piloting a Cessna in conjunction with tuna boats.

On a recent trip, I missed Mrs. Tidewater's birthday, so she suggested we're observe it on Waitangi Day (since it was on her calendar for some reason). It sounds exotic.
We have been dreaming up new traditions for what we do on Waitangi Day. (Let your imagination run wild...)
