Has anyone read Understanding Thomas Jefferson . . .

by Stephen Ambrose? I think it was published a couple of years ago. I read it a while back and have since revisited it. It has some very interesting and relatively obscure facts about Jefferson and his views that most people wouldn't even guess.

I highly recommend the book to anyone who is interested in our country's early history and our Founding Fathers.

Could that have been by E. M. Halliday? I haven't been able to find a book about Jefferson by Ambrose. He did write Undaunted Courage about Lewis and Clark and Jefferson's role in that expedition.
Another question. Should I read it?

B'ham,
Question, Stan: Should you read Undaunted Courage? Absolutely. It is a work of history that reads like fiction. It is absolutely compelling.

Too bad that old Stephen is getting such bad press these days about his supposed plagiarism.

Or, should you read Understanding Thomas Jefferson? I don't know about that, since I haven't read it, and don't know anything about it.

It sounds interesting, though.

Sorry for the abiguity. Actually I meant Understanding Jefferson. I have wanted to read Undaunted Courage but haven't gotten to it. Maybe someday! Thanks for the recommendation.
