Has Mark Ingram "hit the wall" physically or is he trying to play thru a nagging injury? He hasn't seemed to be as effective since his bruised knee weeks ago. I remember reading an article at some point this season where Rolando McClain talked about how beat down he was during the last 3 or 4 weeks of the 2007 season. With Coach Saban admitting on his radio show that "Mark didn't look like Mark, for whatever reason" during the UT game, I wonder if the wear and tear of the SEC has beat down the true freshman. I'm hoping we see a ton of Upchurch and Grant on Saturday, and maybe an extra week will help Ingram get his legs back for the stretch run.

My theory is that, since he started by running like an upperclassman, he fast-forwarded through his freshman season and is in his sophomore slump already... :D

That seems like a reasonable idea. That would compare to McClain last year: have a rough middle to late season and come on strong for Auburn and the Bowl game and be a world beater as a Soph. I like that thinking ;)

I'm really looking forward to seeing some of these freshmen next fall after they've spent some more time in Saban's offseason program. Julio Jones, Ingram, and Hightower are going to be freaks!

Just hope it's not the dreaded "sports hernia" ... you know, that mysterious and mythical ailment you never hear about until several months after the season is over ... that finally explains why your favorite player spent the last several games wallowing in mediocrity.

Just kidding, I think.... :)

I'll agree with that, and I know he's not a freshman, but what will Cody do with a year in the S&C program? Just hope he's back.

I'm hoping it's just a slump. If it is his knee, then I hope it heals quickly.

He will run right over you once he gets up a head of steam. IMO, he needs to do a little better job avoiding the first guy at the LOS, then get up to that "head of steam".

Ingram is definately not running with the same agression and power he did in the beginning, Not having gone through our off season program I'm not surprised. We have the luxury of other backs to carry the load right now. I expect he will push through and become more of a factor toward the end of the season.

McClain it a wall around this point last year too. I bet they've seen that Ingram is a little winded and bruised right now and they are trying to limit his carries for the stretch run.

If he's trying to run through Cody at practice......then yes.

I hope he can rest this weekend and be ready for LSU. Having him at full speed would really be helpful as i think establishing a power running game is gonna be huge next week.

No Ingram didn't 'hit the wall' he just didn't play his best game. We all have good days and bad days.

Roy Upchurch may just have jumped over a wall. What a great game he had against UT. He is pushing hard for 2nd string.

I agree with you on both points, no disrespect intended to the person who started this thread, but I think it's kinda weird to see a thread like this about Ingram after one game. I'm sure the young man will be fine.

Just to clarify - I wasn't trying to bash Ingram's game against UT. Knoxville seemed to me to be a culmination of several weeks of declining play. It really doesn't show up in his stats, but I've watched every snap (many of them 2 or 3 times) this season, and Ingram is not running at the same level as he was during the first few games. I KNOW something has impacted him (not a slight on him as a player) - I just can't tell if it's injury, fatigue, etc.
