I am interested in sending my son and thought I would ask some of you that might have experienced it what it was like and were you happy with the way things went. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Where's lilred? I swear the guy's never around when you want him.

Anyway.... PM lilred. He has a couple of OLmen for kids and is making several camps this year including Alabama's.

If he's old enough to truly appreciate the game and you have the money I wouldn't hesitate for a second. That's like meeting the President.

My son has attended for the last three years from age 12 - 14. The camps are split between youth 8-14 and high school age. It is a tremendous camp if your son is serious about football and doesn't mind working his butt off for three days. If your son has played youth football and is used to drills in the heat he will be fine. If he tends to sit in the AC playing video games all day then it can be somewhat of a shock. I'm not sure your son's age, but the staff tends to look out for the younger ones (8-11) by letting them do most of their drills in the indoor facility where there is AC blowing. I don't say all of that to discourage, but just to prepare you guys in case he is not used to that type of physical activity in the heat because they do get after it.

Now, you definitely get your money's worth out of the coaching and time spent with the kids. Coach Saban is out there all day long with the kids in the heat, coaching and observing. Our first year, a parent told me that his son went to several camps under a previous coach and he said that coach was only there for the opening orientation speech and then showed up for the closing ceremony.

Another benefit (if you stay) is just getting to be so close to the program and check out all of the facilities first hand. Last year I took my dad and was able to take his picture with Coach Saban. We also ran into a very nice team manager in Bryant Denny who took us on a golf cart tour of the stadium which my dad really enjoyed. All of that of course was just being in the right place at the right time and is not included in the camp! Another cool perk was meeting some of the older players that are on campus at the time. Cornelius Bennett was there with his son a few years ago. I got to meet him and also his wife. I met Anthony Madison and Jarrett Johnson a couple of years ago. They were there just getting in shape for their upcoming NFL seasons. It was pretty cool to get to talk to Jarrett Johnson about his first impression of Terrence Cody & what it's like to play next to Ray Lewis every Sunday. I tell everyone that, to me, the camp is like Disney World for a football fan. :)

My 9 year old is going and we can't wait! Go to YouTube and search "Nick Saban Football Camp." There are tons of awesome videos of the camp and Coach Saban. It costs $275 for a commuter and $300-something if you need to stay in the dorm. I booked a room at the Hotel Capstone for us to stay as my son isn't old enough to room there. Plus, at 9 years old, I wouldn't let him anyway.

I don't know about this camp, but I went to an Alabama softball camp when I was in junior high. That was an awesome experience. I think he would love it.

Yes! my oldest son went twice. And Ill be sending his younger brothers in the future. Its a great camp but the kid better not think he is going to be coddled like some church camp, its a tough experience but my son absolutley loved it.
He was offered a couple of football scholarships, but wants to be a maring officer and he attends Marion military this past year and will be taking finals this week and leaving for Marine corp boot camp on Sunday.

You could say the kid is a bit of a glutton for punishment. He is assigned to the Marine reserve unit in Montgomery and he will continue his education at Marion next year then he plans on attending alabama in hopes of eventually becoming an officer and attempting to walk-on during open tryouts.

By the way my son says its the way all football camps should be ran he said Saban will even smoke the little guys and the H.S. coaches if the drag around or fail to do drills as they were instructed, he made one coach tuck his shirt in. Saban does not put up with grab ....., walking or sand bagging, it is full speed all of the time.

My son has also attended SO. Miss & So. AL camps and a friend of his whom is a huge aub attended both the aub camp and the BAMA camp with my son. He was way more impressed with BAMA, although he says he still hates BAMA and Saban, but says Saban is way more organized, his dad told me that they felt like the aub camp was just kind of thrown together as it went along and were a bit disappointed. To all of the aub lurkers, this is his word not mine and you can check my post I dont hate on "lil bro" Im just relating my own experience.

My son went last year at the age of 9 and had a great experience. He was a camp resident and stayed in Tutwiler with a buddy from his youth football team. He's already registered for this summer's camp and will be a camp resident again.
