I don't understand...Someone please explain

Why is it that we play "not to lose" instead of "playing to win."

That was some of the best Bball of the season IN THE FIRST HALF.

After that, we were playing not to lose.

What gives.

Playing not to lose? I don't follow that train of thought at all. There is not such thing in basketball anymore...this isn't the day of the 4 corner drill.

In the second half, Alabama had it's largest lead of the game. However, a run by any team is a given in just about any contest. Tennessee had two runs in the second half.

Using this game with the combination of the results of the Georgia game, are we to assume Georgia played the second half of that game with the mind-set "we'll play not to lose?" Both halves were very similiar. Ut had it's run, Bama had her's against UGA but fell short.

The difference in this game? Shots were falling for the offense. They started of 6 for 10 from the 3-point arc. That's been the problem all year...the lack of an offensive identity, consistantly.

I don't buy that at all

it is the job of the coach to get the oterh team out of their rythem and stop the run...we didnt do that...we were not getting back on D and we were making bad passes...

also when we were up by 15 with 6 min to play we did not utilize the shot clock to our advantage...we were playing "not to lose"

In all honesty, I think we beat a very mediocre team today by 5 points. But it's huge that it was a road win.

UT is pretty tough at home...beat UF there last week. They are good, not great...RTR

Going by the RPI, UT is one of the top 35 teams in the country.

I think Mark did a great job of clock management today....the reason UT made a run was because Slay kept getting to the Charity Stripe, over and over and over.....

I haven't seen anyone get calls like that in this conference since Shaq!! And can someone tell me when Dudley supposedly shoved one of the UT guards in the back on a rebound, and they call the foul on him (right when they were confused if it was foul 6 or 7) why did SLAY go to the line????

That, coupled with that sham of a call on Pettway when he came down with the ball and they called a charge....those keyed the UT run....

And, more importantly, we withstood the runs, and answered everytime. If we can get Kenny out of his "Grizzard" moods....would be much nicer...
