about the pregame matchups. I love reading them, they are very informative, especially if you don't know much about the competition. However, I was curious as to why the units were compared to the corresponding unit instead of the unit they'll be facing?
For example, our OLine might be better than old siss's OLine, but that doesn't mean that our OLine will out perform their DLine and their Oline won't ours. Why not compare matchups and give advantages based on the in-game matchups? You could start by giving both teams units ratings, like the SEC ratings before the season, based on performance so far. You could do, say, Coaching, Quarterbacks, Backfield, Receivers, Oline, Dline, Linebackers, Defensive Backs, Punting, Kicking, and Kickoffs. You would compare Coaching and Quarterbacks head-to-head. Experience, adjustments, etc. for Coaching and experience, running-the-offense, reading defenses, etc, for the QBs. You then compare the rest of the units by matchup: OLine vs Dline, Runningbacks vs Linebackers, WRs vs DBs, Punting, Kicking, Kickoffs.
Doing the matchups this way would, I think, provide a more accurate comparison of the two teams and the probable outcome of the game. What do you guys think? Am I wrong on that? Is there a reason it isn't done that way?
