I read the article on Bama's recruits on al.com @ http://www.al.com/alabamafootball/birminghamnews/index.ssf?/base/sports/1075978017 157200.xml . I'm CONCERNED that it appears that 15 of the recruits have not qualified.

I don't follow recruiting as close as some do, so I was wondering if someone could give a little more explaination as to why this is the current situation.

Randy Ross stated on jocks last week that 5-6 are in danger, however he said no HS seniors are qualified until they graduate, and most of this talk is premature and unfounded at this time.He said he feels that at least 22 of the class will make it in and that is why they over signed in the first place...to have 19 start in aug.

It is my take that "qualified" at this point means:

1) Is an overall good student
2) Has taken and has acceptable act score

Those "expected to qualify" are perhaps kids that:

1) Are close to borderline students on track to graduate
2) Probably have taken the act with an acceptable score (or, at least, are close to an acceptable score)

The rest of the prospects may be shaky in the classroom, have work to make-up or have taken the act several times with limited success (or combination of question marks). That being said, however, this does not mean that a student in this category will not make it. In fact, there are a couple of impact recruits from last year that were in this gray area and made it.

Keep in mind that "all" of these kids must pass the remainder of their classes and pass the HS exit exam before August to be in Crimson.

Certainly, this is only my take on it and may or may not be accurate :^)
