"From my point of view, I was like, they don't do much," Simpson said. "I was like, they do the same thing every down. " So when I got the ball, I knew exactly what was going to happen. They just didn't mess up, bro. They were in the exact same spot they were supposed to be. They were so well-coached. It was so much different than the SEC. [The SEC] will play man, they'll do these unorthodox coverages because that's kind of how it is.

"Adorable," Haines wrote. "We also, saw everything they were doing, on every single snap… It’s just that we exploited those cues. And didn’t get frozen and crushed by them."

Anybody following the fallout to this story?

I read about it on X. I didn't hear the podcast (with Caleb Downs) in question, but I've read the transcript of what Ty said and then some of the insecure responses of the Indiana DC, Bryant Haines.

The Indiana DC took Ty's comments as criticism instead of a compliment, and his responses have been an embarrassment to him, even among non-Bama loyalists.

Indiana DC's over-sensitivity to this really makes me go "hmmm." If they scouted us and legally figured us out...that's good coaching. But he didn't stop there and he double-downed on X and that's when his comments got more embarrassing.

It seems Ty actually saying he knew what they were doing because they were NOT doing anything special sent him over the edge.

IDK. So what do y'all think about the DC's comments and over-sensitivity to this??? It actually plays right into the narrative that this might have been more than just "great coaching." I'm not usually into conspiracies, but this one smells kinda funny to me.

BTW, it gets lost in the narrative, but we were driving the ball in the second quarter when it was only 10-0 when Ty broke a rib. At that point, the game wasn't out of reach, especially if we put up 7! Is it possible Ty was starting to understand what was going on??? But then he got hurt.

I think he’s a clown trying to manufacture disrespect because it’s the only way he knows to motivate his players.

And have guys four years older than the opposing team.

This is worse than Womack and the stolen signals, they won the game and are desperately trying to find something to keep their edge.

It's all just odd, from the DC POV. Take the compliment that a QB you beat (and you ended up winning the NC), and move on.

He's definitely acting like "he's never been there" in regards to their newfound success!

I normally do not post on "X", but this just rubbed me the wrong way when I saw it last night. I lit this guy up and let him have a piece of my mind. If Cig has any salt about him, he will or already has pulled this guy into his office and told him that defensive coordinators of championship teams don't get into social media battles with kids.

I think that's the point! This is so beneath the level of accomplishment their team had last year.

Have a little class!!!

I really hope they fall flat this year. I'll pull for every B1G team that plays them this year!!!

they have been so humble since winning.
They might have been adorable Cinderellas but I think the whole country is probably over them by now and wishes nothing but the worst for them.

They act as if no "Johnny Come Lately" has ever won a NC. It doesn't happen alot, but it happens and most teams that come from left field like they did don't ever find their way back!!! Let's hope that's the case for them, because if we think UM is insufferable when they win, IU will make them look like a classy bunch!

This was a point of pride in the early Saban years at Bama. We're going to line up, you're going to know what we're about to do, and we're going to straight up beat you because we're so much better than you.

If only Ty hadn't got hurt...

Easy to there once. Hard to stay there. They’re about to learn that methinks. They’re no longer a feel good story. Indiana will be a flash in the pan. I get they have a good NIL pool but CFB will catch up.

Yep, there are good teams/organizations out there that will adapt. Everything is cyclical.
