Interesting read. I suggest reading all of it.

On his trip to Bama:

A couple of months later, Dorial and his father took an unofficial visit to Alabama, where they met former Crimson Tide wide receiver Julio Jones, who was just weeks away from being a first-round pick in the NFL draft.
At one point, Dorial and John Beckham were shooting pool with Jones in the Crimson Tide’s players’ lounge while highlights of Jones flashed in the background on a TV as his NFL future was discussed.
“It was a pretty cool moment,” John Beckham said.
At the end of the visit, Dorial and his father had a lengthy meeting with Alabama coach Nick Saban.
“Coach Saban is on a different level basically in how he runs his program,” John said. “He leaves nothing to chance.”
Dorial’s trip to Alabama was the first significant challenge to Arkansas’ lead. It made an impression on him that lasted for a couple of months.
“He was really high on Alabama,” John Beckham said. “He was psyched about it.”
Auburn used Bo Jackson to recruit him:

Dorial’s unofficial visit to Auburn was also high energy. When the Beckhams arrived, three people were dedicated to playing with their adolescent daughter, Eliza.
Auburn also proudly noted that Bo Jackson had starred for the Tigers and how he would send his daughter, Morgan, to the school. Jackson’s daughter then walked out and was introduced to the Beckhams.
The family was also shown a video about Spirit, Auburn’s bald eagle mascot, and the team equipment manager gave an hour-plus presentation about the athletic apparel and equipment players receive.
He told the Beckhams there were 253 different ways to tie a shoe.
“It was over the top,” Tracy Beckham said.
The Auburn coaches discussed the Cam Newton saga openly with the Beckhams and insisted investigations determined no wrongdoing. But when the family returned home, Tracy Beckham was disappointed to read comments on the Internet that suggested the Beckhams had made the visit in seek of financial gain.
“We’re money grubbers?” she said. “That’s a little disheartening.”

Read the rest. I just posted the two parts that most on here would find interesting. There is a nice part about an Arkansas booster wanting to donate money to DGB's adopted father.

I find the part about why he didn't choose Bama a little interesting. Not kid friendly? What?

Said CNS was a workaholic and it was more businesslike. Okie dokie.

Simple, he can go to Mizzou, play in the SEC, stay close to home, in his mind have a little bit more fun while in college, and still showcase his talents to the NFL. Everybody is not meant to play for or coach under Nick Saban.

Yeah I guess that's true. I just think everyone should come to Bama. :)

I believe Coach Saban's direct approach is the best. In that way recruits know what to expect and that CNS treats this young men as men and not boys.

Correct me if I am wrong but I understood though out the whole recruiting process that DGB and his parents wanted him to stay close to home.

Arkansas was actually slightly closer to home but his dad had always been a Missouri fan.

Missouri and Arkansas were short trips by car, and Alabama was a short, but costly plane ride...

I thing DBG's father thought they could have the SEC experience and DBG could be showcased playing against Alabama, LSU, ect...
If Alabama is not 'Kid Friendly' they must be looking for a coach to joke around and be best buds with DGB. If that's it, then Alabama and our business like approach to winning may not be for him.

I wish him great success at MO... but not when our team plays them...

I never thought DGB would come to UA but I wish him well. I hope he stays healthy and has a great college career.

That said, the article was an interesting read. I guess the best thing I can say is its funny how people rationalize things to suit their own desires.

All they had to say was dad was a Mizzou fan and he wanted to stay close to home.
There was a slim to none chance he was going anywhere else IMO.
Especially after the angel of man Pinkel offered the brother a scholly or a job even if DGB didn't sign with Mizzou.

Yeah. OK. I'm sure he offers that to all of the recruits siblings.

Is it against NCAA rules for coaches to put banners along the highways, the fliers at the BB game, or the private party at the bar? Was that available to other recruits?

The helicoptor? Like that wasn't planned.

Substitute "Alabama" for Mizzou in that story and you would have a firestorm of controversy from rival coaches and fans.

Yeah, I much prefer the boring, honest, "businesslike" approach over the theatrics, pandering, and ego stroking.

None of the parents reasoning makes any sense in that article.

He didn't want to go to Notre Dame because Brian Kelly slammed down his headset, but he didn't mind that Gary Pinkel had a DUI? What?

He didn't like Brian Kelly because he got so mad and heated on the sideline, but still liked Petrino & Saban despite the emotion they showed on the sidelines?

They didn't like the fact that DGB was offered alcoholic drinks at Arkansas? Uh... welcome to college.

I hope it works out well for him, and I wish him the best when he's not playing us, but his parents seemed to take everything at face value and apply it as a blanket opinion about an entire program.

Alabama was too business like? Yeah, that's how you win. You work harder than everyone else. Welcome to life.

Going to Bama to play FB is like taking a full time job at a Fortune 500 company. Most kids out of HS are just not ready for it. Maybe they knew that Dorial wasn't.

or maybe he just like Mizzou better than Bama and Pinkel better than Saban

Sometimes, you hear these parents interviewed and they seem too naive for this process.

But I wish this kid well. Interesting that Arkansas has boosters making "donations". I'm sure nothing will come of that.
