I did not see this posted so if it has been I apologize. Any thoughts on Willis leaving? Do you think he will go to TT w/ wingnut or stay? If he goes any thoughts on who replaces him?
First, try to do better with your thread titles. I've read, most recently on an AU board, that he turned Tubs down...I did not see this posted so if it has been I apologize. Any thoughts on Willis leaving? Do you think he will go to TT w/ wingnut or stay? If he goes any thoughts on who replaces him?
It would still be a lateral move and you know what CNS thinks about that.
There are now some reports that he is in Lubbock today. If so, that doesn't look good...
Just speculatin', but I wonder if Willis ... if he sticks around ... might be a candidate to replace Kirby Smart as Bama's DC when Smart gets a head coaching gig?
If Smart leaves and Sunseri is still on the staff, I see the DC position going to him if Saban promotes from within.
I think you've come up with good reasons. As long as the money is at least close, I think he leaves. Of course, if both Sal and Kirby leave after next year, he will have lost a golden opportunity...I actually think Smart staying has some effect on Willis leaving. Ears said that he was going to hire the two coordinators this week and then work with those two folks to fill out his staff, so if he's offered anything to Willis it would only be logical that it would be a DC position.
With Smart staying at Bama, Willis knows he's going to have to leave to get a DC role... and even at Bama it's logical that he would be behind Sunseri should Smart leave in the future for a HC role.
Look... you don't win the BCS Championship and not lose some of your assistants to promotions, period. It's a sign that CNS is bringing in the best and building their skills. I'd look for him to move quickly to replace CJW with either an internal candidate or a great external hire. There will be a LONG list of coaches ready to come to Alabama to work with CNS.
It's interesting that Muschamp was the one who recommended CJW to CNS. Of course, Tubs needs no background on him...
