Question: Is South Carolina better than Florida?

I think South Carolina may be better than Florida this year, and here is why I think so:

1) SC has a running back that can keep the defense honest and run the ball between the tackles.

2) SC runs a style of offense that fits their personnel, instead of trying to fit a square peg in a round hole on offense like UF does. Their offense is more balanced than UF's.

3) SC has better WRs than UF, and their WRs have better size and speed also.

4) SC's defense is more experienced than UF's, and likely more talented in the secondary

5) SC's Center can snap the ball out of the shotgun to the QB on a consistent basis (it's amazing that this even has to be listed)

6) SC had last week off to rest and heal up, and scheme for us. We also play them on the road.

In summary, South Carolina is a better team right now than UF, and matches up against us much better at this point in the season. UF is still very young and breaking in alot of new players/coaches. We better not have any type of let-down this coming weekend.

No. South Carolina isn't better than Florida. Not even close.
However, South Carolina does a better job of using its personnel.

How they match up with us though, will depend a lot on us. Many are saying that Arkansas beat us up & down the field. That's not necessarily the case. We made mistakes just like they did (INTs, fumbles, etc.). So the lead could have very well changed a couple times throughout the game rather than going the way that it went.

The truth is that you're only as good as your play indicates. As I said yesterday in another thread, South Carolina beat up on Southern Miss,Furman, and a Georgia team we now know is as weak as water. Their biggest strength was supposed to be their running game. But Lattimore, while I do believe he's the next great one in the SEC, had his best game against that same sorry Georgia defense. If we play up to our potential, we should win by 2 TDs. Maybe even 3 if Garcia a)hasn't learned how to slide when he scrambles and b)hasn't matured above the shoulders between the Auburn game and this one.

I do think Jefferies can take advantage of our shorter corners. And I like that Ace Sanders kid. He's blazing fast. So they may be able to get in the endzone on us a couple of times. Their pass rush is solid, but as long as we stay out of 2nd and/or 3rd and long, we should be fine.

The Gators offense was bad enough with a healthy Brantley..Scary to think how bad they will be with a injured Brantley..

I tend to agree that, if they played today at a neutral site, USCe would be better than Florida, but by the second weekend in November Florida will be better and will win.

I do think USCe matches up better with us than UF did, they have better receivers and quite frankly at this point Garcia is better than Brantley. Lattimore is much better than all 3 of their RBs. USCe's OL is not as good as Florida's and defensively UF has better depth and talent than USCe. I may be wrong but I believe we will get a much better game from Carolina than we did from Florida.

I think SC is weaker in the trenches on both sides of the ball than Florida. And, as CNS has shown, games tend to be won or lost in the trenches.
I agree...lizards have a slightly better defense overall, I think, but an SC poster on here admitted their o-line is their weakest link, and I think the lizard's o-line is better.

Personaly I think UF's 'O' would be alot better off without Brantley and using Burton, he's more of what Myer wants his QB to be! Brantley can just barely run out of his own footsteps.

Burton's an athlete, Brantley is a QB, lots of difference! HCUM's 'O' needs an athlete at QB, not a drop back QB!

Heck even their O-line is made for the spread with pulling guards. They just haven't been very good at straight forward pass-blocking. JMO!

I think it may be better with number 8 all of the time because he is more suited to that offense. Of course, he will probably make a great play for his team, followed buy a great play for LSU, followed by... That seems to be what happens with freshmen.
LSU's defense is quite good, but their offense is worse than UF's. UF also has the home field. If I were betting, I would take UF if the line were a pick'em.

I hope some of y'all aren't making the mistake of presuming that Florida is a bad team because of the way we beat them. That would in effect cheapen our great win over a very good team. No, they're not as good as a lot of recent Gator teams, but make no mistake about it, they are loaded with athletes and and are well coached. They seem to be still searching for an identity, but I expect to see them again in the SECCG and it probably won't be as easy the next time.

Totally agree. Take away the turnovers, UF is right there with us. UF beat us in yardage on the field. You can bet that Brantley won't make the same turnovers next time. They moved the ball on us all game (esp. 2nd half). I do believe you you make your luck, but UF is a lot better than the score indicates.
USC will be a better game because we are playing in their stadium. They've had 2 weeks to prepare and this could make their season.
