I thought I heard this on the post game radio show. Today I saw this article. Roll Tide!
Decibel record broken
Decibel record broken
My ears are still ringing!A sound must be increased by 10 dB to be perceived as twice as loud. Since the loudest was after the interception at 113.1 dB, and the next loudest was 104.2, the stadium was almost twice as loud after the interception as at any other time.
WOW!!! RTR!
FWIW, In 2014, Arrowhead Stadium set a Guinness World Record for its stadium noise against the New England Patriots. The fans were so loud that they registered the sound at 142.2 decibels. That's louder than a jet plane taking off.
There's still room for improvement.
Something doesn't add up, and I'm betting it's the Arrowhead measurement. Arrowhead has a capacity of 76,416. No way they were even twice as loud as BD Saturday night.
Assuming similar measurements, the Arrowhead SPL required roughly 1,000x the power required to hit 113dB...
Probably how the measurements were weighted.Something doesn't add up, and I'm betting it's the Arrowhead measurement. Arrowhead has a capacity of 76,416. No way they were even twice as loud as BD Saturday night.
Seems I read last week you were going to the game. Just curious, do you wear hearing protection at the games? I would if I had your day gig.Probably how the measurements were weighted.
Also has a lot to do with where the measurement is taken. And some stadiums acoustically amplify (or at least retain acoustic energy) better than others.
But I agree, and really anything above about 120dB SPL is suspect, imo. That's INCREDIBLY loud, as in , quite a bit louder than any rock concert you've likely ever been to. And Arrowhead supposedly created a sound requiring roughly 100x the acoustic energy required to hit 120dB.
Seems unlikely.
Bro, I wear ear protection when I'm mowing the yard - you better believe I'm nowhere near BDS without multiple pairs of 30dB-nr plugs in hand!Seems I read last week you were going to the game. Just curious, do you wear hearing protection at the games? I would if I had your day gig.
Yeah, 95dB is still really loud, not surprised you didn't hit that.Totally off topic, but I played a gig in Seaside, Fl for a wedding reception several years ago. It was at a really good restaurant, Bud and Alley's. At any rate, during our soundcheck, a local LEO approaches us with a dB meter. Evidently, there is a local ordinance that you can't make noise above a certain dB level. IIRC, that level was 95 dB. He said he was going to stand on the other side of Highway 30 (we were behind the restaurant on the beach side) and if our sound level got over 95 dB he was taking us all to jail.
We were all able to spend the night in a hotel.
You'd think there would be more important things for a self important jerk to do. Must have missed out on the girl.Seems I read last week you were going to the game. Just curious, do you wear hearing protection at the games? I would if I had your day gig.

They evidently didn’t record the decibels during the Florida game when Brodie threw that long TD pass. It was even loud on TV! I had just got my new Bose surroundsound and I played that play over and over to show everybody how the surroundsound sounded because it was awesome, unforgettable!!!!A sound must be increased by 10 dB to be perceived as twice as loud. Yes! That was very loud, as was Cody's FG block against the Vols in 09They evidently didn’t record the decibels during the Florida game when Brodie threw that long TD pass. It was even loud on TV! Shula couldn't even get guys in the weight room - you think there's even a chance the attention to detail needed to record data like this existed? They evidently didn’t record the decibels during the Florida game when Brodie threw that long TD pass. And how many ice creams cones they got during the week.Shula couldn't even get guys in the weight room - you think there's even a chance the attention to detail needed to record data like this existed?
Maybe they have the data but I'd be shocked. The FB program motto under shula should have been "what's the least we can do and still win (most of the time)?"
Not on Twitter, won’t let me read without signing up..
