Perhaps I'm just being a homer here, but if I were an NFL team in need of a QB, I would be salivating over Jacob Coker. I believe this young man has the size, mentality, leadership skills, and most importantly...the heart to continue being a winner at the next level. I hope we see him on Sundays in the coming years.

Jake will get a shot. The NFL loves its measurable's and he has the size, arm and can run.

You're being somewhat of a homer if you think Jake will be a high draft pick. IF he gets drafted it'll be in the late rounds 5th-7th. He has the physical tools but it takes a lot more than that to succeed in the NFL. Hope he gets drafted and gets a chance. He needs to go to a team where he can sit behind someone and learn for a few years. He's not ready to play right away. I'm not being negative just realistic. Jake was an awesome college QB but the NFL is a different animal..

I think the biggest thing that he needs is more playing time which he won't get in the NFL. I'm not sure practice really counts. He's had plenty of that in the past. Hope he does well. He does have all the measurables though.

Slow release, doesn't see the whole field, and inconsistent accuracy. That being said he only has one year of starting experience and has gotten better as the season progressed. He may get a shot, but I'm not sure salivating is a good term.

Some team may take him as a project. I can't imagine that he doesn't get a shot at making a roster this Summer.

He will get signed as an UDFA. At the NFL level, his release negates his arm strength and his footwork is scattershot which affects his accuracy.

Having said that, with enough hard work, he has the tools to make it but he is far from a finished product.

Actually, before the playoff, He was pretty much undraftable, but with his strong performances dating back to Auburn to National Championship, I think he improved his draft stock, going from Undrafted to somewhere in mid 5 to 7..... He just need to have a solid performance at Senior Bowl, and if invited to NFL combine and pro day, HE can probably get some look... But I do expect him to be somewhere in NFL next year..... He needs to land on a team that will develop him for few years.

Yeah, but they look at pros and cons... no one is perfect, but he's intriguing prospect.... He has NFL arm. HE can run. He can make plays. Let him sit behind a QB for few years... and in few years, he could either start or whatever.

He's had positive things said about his NFL potential for years now. He's the type of guy they like to give a shot to, unlike someone like Blake Sims who doesn't fit into the cookie cutter mold quite as well. I'd be surprised if he doesn't get drafted.

Yep, I agree. His size/arm are similar to Big Ben. I think with a year or two of seasoning working behind a vet, he could become a serviceable NFL QB. Now, I don't think he'll get drafted, but will get some invites to camps. I could be wrong and hope I am.

There are several articles like this one that starting appearing during the playoffs and after Savage selected him to the Senior Bowl, which was called a homer move at first , but now not so. Some scouts are talking as high as 4th, others projects 5-6 and some doubters.

His play on the senior Bowl will help his stock. He is a one year starter that improved a lot, which works in his favor because of the question mark of his ceiling. If you feel like another year at Bama would ensure him drafted, then some team will gamble on him. Many 5 and 6th round picks are for people just like Coker.

NFL.com - Jake Coker of Alabama deserves deep look in draft process

I'd say his release isn't as big an issue as some in here are thinking, but he certainly doesn't read defenses well or have great pocket instincts. That said, having prototype size and arm strength has gotten some much, much worse QBs roster spots.

Jake ended up being one of my favorites of the Saban era, so happy he went out on top as a champ and played very good football down the stretch.

As far as the NFL, his release could be an issue, but he does have the measurables the NFL likes.
Hopefully he has a good week at the Senior Bowl.

Jake has some good pocket instincts to me eyes unless it is a 2 second collapse. MSU game? Those scrambles when he looked sacked, the running for 1st downs. He started one year. His potential is a plus.

Go back to Middle Tenn game and Ole Miss.... You'll see he didn't have that... He grew a lot...his presence in the pocket under pressure has got lot better.

Both the Clemson and MSU fans were very frustrated by his pocket presence and scrambling. In fact they were outraged. It wasn't what they'd been expecting...
