I am not saying the LANK/NIL stuff isn’t true or doesn’t play a role - but this notion that Milroe has never played consistently well, or only occasionally has a good game, is a stretch IMO.Watch the unofficial assistant coaches video. He tells it like it is. The only reason JM is playing is because he bought the loyalty of a few players who made it clear they only play if JM is playing. As coach P says JM simply does not have the tools to play at this level. Never has. Every once and a while he has a good game, but the body of work points to JM just being a.bad QB. Coach P went so far as to say that JM probably would not make a single roster better if the transfered there. Preschool level QB skills was what he called it.
I wish we could link the videos, but coach P gets pretty fired up on this series so it's no where near tidefans language friendly.
It’s not like he’s a small guy either. If anything, Milroe could have at least tried to push him out of bounds if he was too scared to tackle him.
JM has never been consistent. His dang mechanics alone keep that from happening. Add to that his inability to see the field or read a defense and he just is not that good.I am not saying the LANK/NIL stuff isn’t true or doesn’t play a role - but this notion that Milroe has never played consistently well, or only occasionally has a good game, is a stretch IMO.
Here’s Milroe’s combined passing stats against Wisconsin, Georgia and Vandy:
57-74 (77%), 880 yards, 6 TD, 2 INT
Neither of the 2 picks were really his fault and came on good throws where the ball was tipped.
These are elite passing numbers over a three game stretch by almost any metric. He’s been anywhere from trash to serviceable at best throwing the ball since.
Which is more likely - a three-game fluke, or an injury following steady improvement working with one of the better QB developers in the game?
Not excusing the LANK stuff if it’s true, but the narrative that he’s never been a successful passer is a stretch.
Wisconsin has a losing record and got skull-drug by Minnesota.I am not saying the LANK/NIL stuff isn’t true or doesn’t play a role - but this notion that Milroe has never played consistently well, or only occasionally has a good game, is a stretch IMO.

We may have a decent chance in the playoffs. There won’t be any 6-game losers in there. While I agree w/the first part…the second part I can’t…
We’re still Alabama. If they want to let us in the 12 team tournament, let’s go! Has this team been frustrating, absolutely on so many levels…but I’d still rather have that puncher’s chance than no chance at all. Give me a playoff game over the Weedwacker bowl every single time.
Coach P goes on a rant about that also, with everyone saying it's not JMs fault. Guess what, according to the film, it is...JM has never been consistent. His dang mechanics alone keep that from happening. Add to that his inability to see the field or read a defense and he just is not that good.
And why is it that his interceptions are not his fault?
I don’t mean his interceptions as a whole aren’t his fault - I meant the two that occurred against Georgia and Vandy. Those were good throws that were tipped into the air and caught by defenders.JM has never been consistent. His dang mechanics alone keep that from happening. I admit that his performance for much of the Georgia game had me believing that he had turned things around.I don’t mean his interceptions as a whole aren’t his fault - I meant the two that occurred against Georgia and Vandy. I’m not saying he’s elite, or even consistent. I just think this narrative that he has never ever been capable as a passer is false. 27-33 for 374 yards against Georgia does not happen by accident IMO.
Yes, he will. He might even go in the first round with a couple of solid games to end his Alabama career. This guy will not get drafted as a quarterback. May go in the later rounds by some team thinking he has potential at another position. Myers allowing Tebow to try an play tight end was a big nail in his coaching career, and totally stupid. DeBoer playing Milroe is not smart.
They were his fault. Bad throws. Period. Against vandy he was late in delivery and that's why the tip happened...I don’t mean his interceptions as a whole aren’t his fault - I meant the two that occurred against Georgia and Vandy. 18-24 for 310 yards against Vandy is crapping the bed? In the game where Vandy had like a 42-18 minute TOP edge? The single INT in that game was a good throw into a tight window with an uncalled pass interference that led to a tipped ball.Wisconsin has a losing record and got skull-drug by Minnesota.
We played one good qtr against UGA with scripted plays they'd never seen and then they shut us down and we almost lost.
Against vandy he totally crapped the bed. HALF the drives were three and out. The INTs were on him because they were thrown late. Remember, it's VANDY...
Go watch coach P. He's telling the brutal truth. As he says, he's got the receipts straight from the locker room. We've been hostage. It's ALL on JM. We are running the most simplistic, stripped down offense because that's all JM can get close to doing.
For context, coach P was the first to start calling for Tua over Hurts, because he knew what was going on in practice and the locker room and he's saying Simpson should be playing now.
Yep. Crapped the bed. Half drives were 3 and out against VANDY and that is why the TOP was not in our favor. The int was a very late throw. JM throws on time and the dB is no where close enough to hit the wr. That's on JM.18-24 for 310 yards against Vandy is crapping the bed? In the game where Vandy had like a 42-18 minute TOP edge? Wisconsin also took #1 undefeated Oregon to the brink in the same venue a couple of weeks ago. Oregon’s Heisman candidate QB threw for 218 yards with no TDs and a pick in that game. Oregon won 16-13.
If we had a guy sitting on the bench that was clearly another Tua, I would agree with you. Not sure Ty is that guy.
You lose credibility when you keep putting every problem that this team has on Milroe.Yep. Crapped the bed. Half drives were 3 and out against VANDY and that is why the TOP was not in our favor. Have you listened to coach P?You lose credibility when you keep putting every problem that this team has on Milroe.
I have, and I agree not just with the fact that Milroe is not a good QB, but why. I have been saying it all along - was only fooled for one week after the Georgia game. But the loss to Vandy was a total team failure. They beat Alabama in every phase of the game. Does Alabama win that game with a different QB? Maybe. Does Alabama win that game with last year's defense? Without question.Have you listened to coach P?
The main culprit with TOP was Vandy going 12-18 on 3rd down if I remember correctly. Defense for sure crapped the bed that day.Yep. Crapped the bed. Well, to be fair, this thread is specifically about Milroe. We know there are other issues. No doubt. You lose credibility when you keep putting every problem that this team has on Milroe.
When you have receivers that can just outrun the DB and he just throws the ball up that tends to skew the numbers. Teams out there have kind of figured out how to slow him down and he CANNOT adjust. The main culprit with TOP was Vandy going 12-18 on 3rd down if I remember correctly. Look, I’m not saying Milroe is a great QB. If the LANK stuff is true, shame on us. But sheesh, the vitriol aimed towards his level of play is unreal. Last week versus OU was downright bad, and was the first time I remember him not producing points in a game (he did get egregiously robbed of six by that horrible call). But you also have games like Georgia, Wisconsin, LSU (2023 and 2024), Kentucky 2023, and so on. Statistically he’s been an extremely productive player, particularly if you account for his rushing production. He’s not as good as Jalen Hurts, but that doesn’t mean he’s Brandon Avalos.
I would be shocked if he isn’t banged up, and probably has been since at least South Carolina.
There have been credible posters on here talking about Ty always trying for the hero play and trying to one-up Milroe’s deep ball in practice. I’ve seen Ty make some really bad throws and decisions. I just don’t think there’s much separation between the two. I could be completely wrong.
