January 7th to February 7th: It sure didn't feel like we were National Champions

Truthfully, nobody wanted to talk about BAMA because people are a bunch of haters. But we forced everyone to talk about us by winning the SEC and going to the NCG because since we were in that game, well the media needs something to do for a month so hurrah we are included in the conversation.

BAMA forced people to listen and we will be doing so for years to come so they might as well deal with it.
Wow. Haters? I guess it's all about perception, but I see nothing but love on a national level for the Tide. Want to feel slighted? Go into ANY sports apparel store outside of a 100 mile radius from Auburn and try to think like an Auburn fan. Look at the Auburn apparrel (boyh shirts and the lone hat on the rack) and then try to turn around without knocking over something that has that Atlanta Braves looking crimson A on it. Man - you guys got love.

I certainly don't question your loyalties (even though you are engaged to an Aubie ), but reading comprehension has nothing to do with disagreement with your premise. Maybe you could accept those alternate viewpoints with an open mind instead of getting defensive (as we should all do)...

:cheers2:
Maybe, but I feel like my point was lost because many of the responses have the tone of "I can't understand why you don't feel like a champion," when in reality it's got nothing to do with how I feel about our team or our accomplishments.

I've got no problem with alternate viewpoints, I'm fine with the fact other people don't see it the way I do. My problem is when people start name calling, or questioning my loyalties or motives because they're too lazy to actually read what the thread is about.

I actually noticed this already, and remembered when it was the other way around. Supply and demand for our gear is great right now. We Bama fans should listen to AUTigers001. We are getting love where it counts. It is much more fun to be in our shoes than theirs right now.

Let them celebrate the small 'victories' they may win on the recruiting trail. Everyone knows that we are just as happy with our class as they are with theirs.

Let the media try to build up our rivals in the off season to try to make the games more interesting. It just makes winning them sweeter.

I agree 100% about the "haters." However, I guarantee you at the beginning of football season next year, all the talk will be on Boise St. and Utah and why they should be included in the BCS title game or about what all Bama has to lose if we don't mirror last years season. People hate Bama because we bring to the table a level of tradition that very few other schools can match. We shouldn't have to FORCE people (including media) to talk about us! I guess we should take solace in the fact that we are Alabama and we have a rich, winning tradition. If people are so jealous that they hate us, then who cares?

I live in another college town and constantly get dissed because I am an "out of the closet" Bama fan and PROUD! These other fans can believe that I don't outwardly pull for the school in my hometown! I am a 3rd generation Bama grad and a lifelong Bama fan! I have never been a fan of the hometown school and didn't go there. I am a BAMA fan and there is not room for anyone else! Get over it!

I want to offer my apologies again to RedStar because I read his original post the wrong way. After discussing it and re-reading what he says, I totally agree with him and feel the same way. People who aren't Bama fans don't want us to feel good about our list of accomplishments! I am so tired of it! I don't like feeling guilty for cheering for the National Champions! I am sick of hearing about the two great recruits that Auburn landed from in state! The local news coverage barely covered the awesome players we signed because they were so busy worrying about that Coleman kid and his decision between Bama and the Aubs! That is one kid! And now, that ridiculous Spencer Region garbage! Does the local news program tell the viewers WHY that whole deal went down? No! Just that he "spurned" Bama! At least we all know the truth, right? Still doesn't make me feel better. (I will have my own personal pity party.):frown:

My rant is over. LOL. Allow the OP to have his opinion without slinging personal insults. That is all he is asking for.

One thing is for certain, the Alabama media will always build up the program that is down, say they are better than they really are. Which fans find it very hard to NOT believe (been there done that). So this fall when reality hits them in the face like cold salter water, its gonna hurt.

Their recruiting is going to help them, but that's still a ways down the road, and great recruiting does not guarantee success, just see Tennessee under Fulmer for most of his tenure, huge recruiting classes, not much to show for it.

You'll also find some commonalities between the former UT staff and Auburn.

Cute little typical "shot". That was totally ausome. And as far as "haters" go, your orange and blue cult has it in spades.

I know, I married into an Auburn fambily and watching as they attempt to create some special universe where only they are christian, family oriented, doing it all for the right reasons, etc. is comedy in it's highest form. Because..as this entire spectacle unfolds it also fails to include the hate they teach their children and the constant indoctrination of all the reasons Bama has kept them from success throughout the years.

It would be hilarious if they all didn't take themselves so seriously and as everyone is well aware you can pop over to ITAT and watch/read it 24/7.

It was meant to be funny...

If you over-react to your wife's 'fambily' comments like you did here, I think the special universe is inside your head, my man...

Here you go: "Roll Tide"... feel any better?

I think in a way Saban has sort of brainwashed the fans as well. Myself, I was pumped about the NC for about a week, then couldn't get my mind off of recruiting.

Even though we have nothing to do with the outcome of games or recruiting, I feel like I have almost become a victim of the 24 hour rule lol.

Some recruits are going to go the auburn way because of the depth chart we have accumulated... We are national champs. National. More than anyone else. Historical. Unmatched. Eternal. Kids are going to read almanacs years from now and see "Alabama" next to year 2009... if that isn't enough for some folks then well... they're blind or they're too busy throwing toilet paper.

I've been sort of casually following and posting in this thread, but I admit that I am rather shocked at the turn it has taken, and I would like to think that I am one of the more sarcastic people on this board. I don't think Redstar is complaining about the team, or saying that they didn't accomplish anything, or criticizing Saban, or any of us. He is just noting that the Alabama press and our rivals seem to have done the unthinkable and forgotten what a great year we had. That doesn't mean I have enjoyed this experience any less, but yeah, it kind of irritates me that Scarbinski has written 4 or 5 articles in a row on how the mighty Chizik is supplanting Saban. Based on RECRUITING rankings! When we are the national champions!! And if you can't complain about the media and Auburn fans on Tidefans, then where can you complain?
The other posters were trying to point out, granted in a rather sarcastic manner, that you're responsible for your own enjoyment of our National Championship. Sometimes, when you're around the water cooler, you have to break out the reverse needle. Take note of the media coverage, but don't let them influence your feelings about this CFB season. Besides, if you're a trash talker at work, this team gave you plenty of ammo. Fire away!

Anyone that reads anything that the SCAB writes is just asking to get mad and that goes for the Birmingham News for the most part. I have repeatedly said that for years now. Apparently they are all a bunch anti-Bama barner sympathizers at best and outright Auburn fans at worst. I have to think twice and read very carefully any article by their Alabama beat writer to look for barner undertones or slights towards Bama before I link it to this site. More often than not I refuse to promote or link their take or slant on almost anything about Alabama football.

I am not against complaining about the media obviously or Auburn fans that slight Bama. However, seriously letting it get to you or causing you to feel let down is just not right. How could you let anything especially AU fans and the media affect how you feel about what CNS has accomplished in recruiting and football? These are the best of times for us Tide fans since the Coach Bryant era. So I say just relax, sit back with a smile on your face in your latest Alabama NC Crystal Football T-shirt and enjoy the CNS process in action.

I have been waiting with baited breath for the economy to finally kill off that pathetic rag. If they finally do go belly up I'll finally have a reason to be thankful the Democrats took over.

At the risk of sounding like a jerk, do you not remember the Dubose days? The Fran days, as short as they were? The Mike Shula days? Want to talk about not feeling anything! Sheesh. Get with the times! ;)
