I love this kid and was glad he shoved it to the state of Mississippi today. But I don't know how he runs the ball with his head down. I'm sure he sees fine, but it looks as if he staring at the ground when he hits the hole. Expound on this if you please. But, I guess little things like that happen when you grew up a qb. ;) Irregardless, I'm very happy he's at the U of A!

I like the way that he attacks the LOS...
Agreed...I would like to see him used more in the offense. Give him some more short yardage carries, or use him in some screen passes. It seems like when he gets a full head of steam, he's tough to bring down.

Problem stems from simply never having been a RB in HS. One of the things a good coach will teach a kid is how to "run behind his shoulder pads with head on a swivel." Obviously, his style is more a "I have a better chance to run over you" than "I can avoid you by cutting back and leave you grasping for air." So... as someone said earlier, it seems as if he is ready to get hit (he actually is). Says a lot about his strength/natural talent that he can be as successful as he is with this style.

if he keeps running the way he did today, he'll find himself #2 on the depth chart. And, perhaps, in the offensive backfield for good.

Yep...Let's give JJ some time to develop as a RB before we're too critical. He played a great game and was very effective in relief of Darby.

Is he faster than KD? Darby definitely looks quicker, but when he gets his head of steam he looks like he moving pretty fast.

I want to see him at QB in the future! I think he would be exciting to watch and just a good athlete. He does run like a fullback, a big bouldering fast one. To me he runs like Humphrey did in the crimson tradition video they play before each home game. If I was old enough to remember the game, i could prolly tell you which game it was but I wasn't. But the one I'm thinking of he breaks who knows how many tackles.

i've wondered (especially after yesterday) whether the staff has thought about throwing JJ under center in qb sneak situations. since he's really a qb you'd think there wouldn't be too much concern with the exchange. and seeing as how he goes a good 30lbs more than brodie and is clearly a more gifted runner, it might not be a bad idea. after all, it's not like their's much reading the d on a sneak. just a thought.

I like the way...

...the coaches showed a lot of faith in him by giving him so many quality snaps for his homecoming. I like the way he responded in the running game. I like the way he broke the game wide open on the play he made on the second half kick off. I mean, line this kid up in the backfield, under center, out wide...put him in the defensive backfield, secondary or at the defensive end position. Line Johns up anywhere just get him in the game...often! I really like this kid and I like the fact that we have three more years to see him play and dominate for the Crimson Tide!! RTR!!!

Never seen the video, living here in Louisiana, but I'm betting it's the UT game from the year we won 56-28 and he ran for 200 yards.....about 10 yards per clip....we kept running sweep after sweep after sweep. Strong, but graceful runner, wish he'd have been able to enjoy his time in Denver more than he did. One of our best ever.
