A former student (graduated 2 yrs ago) at Sprayberry HS was killed in Iraq (I think) recently. The funeral was today and apparantly was going by the HS at 10:30am. Some of the students wanted to go out and pay their respects as the funeral procession went by. The principal and/or superintendent wouldn't allow them to do that b/c it would constitute a "school event" and there was already a school event planned today...a basketball pep rally.

Assuming I have the gist of the story correct, doesn't it follow that the principal could/should have allowed the students to pay their respects????

What wonderful priorities they have in some places. Forget the fallen troops; let's have a festive pep rally! Idjits.
