and I am pleased with the way our team played today. However, I am terribly disappointed that there were probably less than 100 BAMA fans in the house, especially when you consider the number of BAMA fans that live in tutorsee. I personally live in NC and made the 3-hour drive.
Getting tickets was not difficult. I got mine a few weeks ago when BAMA was undefeated and #1 in the country. Am I disappointed in the way they have played the last few weeks? Of course I am, but I am still a fan, and I made the journey not knowing the outcome of the game. Now that the game has come and gone, I am extremely happy that my son and I went to the game, and I am very happy with the outcome.
There, I am off of my soapbox. Now to my opinion on the game itself. I got to the arena about an hour prior to tipoff. BAMA looked like a determined team during warmups, and that intensity carried over into the game itself.
The biggest difference between the BAMA team I saw today and the BAMA team of the past few weeks is very simple. It has nothing to do with coaching, whether good or bad. It has almost nothing to do with poor execution, though there was some of that. Simply put, the difference between today's game and say, the jawja game Tuesday boils down to this fact. BAMA hit their shots, today, and in the previous games they didn't. When BAMA hit a couple of 3's early in the game, you could see their confidence building, and it carried them to a victory.
Yes, tutorsee did make a comeback to make the game closer than it should have been. But I personally know Buzz Peterson from his days at Appalachian State in Boone, NC. I went to church with him while he lived here. I can promise you that as long as Buzz coaches the viles, or any other team, they will be well-coached, and will play hard, right to the very end of the game. So don't fault our players for tutorsee closing the gap. The viles did that because they played hard for the duration of the game.
To you so-called fans who think we should fire our coach, you should stop criticizing the team and its coaches and support them with your attendance. This team is not poorly-coached, nor is it a bad team. Yes, we have fallen short of expectations for the season, but the season is not over. If we play the rest of the games like we played today, we have a chance to run the regular season table, which would bring our conference record to 9-7. That would be enough to put us into the NC2A tourney, and anything can happen. Don't forget that this is the 20th anniversary of the NC State miracle of 1983. No one gave them a chance either. So don't give up on our team. There are still a lot of games to play.
Thanks for reading my rant.
