When Kiffin and Alabama coach Nick Saban exchanged handshakes after Tennessee's 12-10 loss to the Tide, Kiffin didn't hold back.

"We'll get you next year," Kiffin told Saban.

That evidently didn't go over well with Saban, who isn't exactly regarded as the most even-tempered man in the league.

You know I was really hoping to begin getting past my disgust of ut (due to Fulmer) and start regarding them as a respected foe once again.

This insignificant little twit seems intent on preventing said turn-around.

He also made the statement that He would never lose a game to Gerogia. This guy just makes himself sound dumb.

Nothing could ever change my views on that rancid program. Kiffin and his b.s. has just ratcheted and intensified my disgust of all things orange.

Don't know how credible this is, but it wouldn't surprise anyone on this board if he did say it, or words to that effect. Really, what else would you expect him to say? But if he did, I would love to know what response CNS had for him, if he wanted to waste his valuable time "chatting" with him.:rolleye2:

What he's going to get is a much better Alabama team coming into Knoxville next year. His team, on the other hand, is losing several key players on both sides of the ball. I like our chances.

I too wonder about accuracy here. I know Kiffin did say in his post game press conference.."Next year we win that game". Not "this" game, but "that" game.

It wasn't a prediction as much as he seemed to be saying."As we bring in better players and our current players have a year to understand our system better...... if next years game should come down to the same circumstances at the end....we'll win it".

I'm not defending the knucklehead but I think this story could be fictional.
I saw no animosity or banter in the post game hand shake. Looked very amicable to me.

In my best Lee Corso voice, "Not so fast, my friend!"

We will lose a lot of our starters/leaders on defense next year. They will be replaced with talent, but it will be young talent, and we will need some new guys to step into leadership roles.

On the other hand, I find it hard to believe that UT will be a better team in '10 than they are in '09. Especially with a fool like little Kiffin running the show.

That was my read on his presser comment, too. As for this one, even Kiffin has to be smart enough not to make Saban angry, right? I mean, can you imagine how focused he would be on TN's destruction if it became personal? :eek2:

I'm not bothered by a coach saying that at the postgame handshake. Assuming it's even true. If it was Spurrier or Nutt or whomever who said it, I suspect it would be treated as jovial comity amongst coaches. The difference: Spurrier or Nutt or any of the other SEC coaches would say "Congratulations" and be smiling when following up with the "We'll get you next year" line.

I don't know if he said it or not, but it sounds just like him. I do know that shortly after the Florida game, he ended the interview by saying "We'll see them next year."

I don't think this is a particularly unsportsmanlike thing to say.

Sportsmanlike or not, it is a very unproffesional thing to say. Both teams fought hard Sat. and as a man and a coach, you have to swallow your pride and (as hard as it maybe sometimes) recognize the other team as victors and move on!!!
