This is for the guys who really know recruiting. When every you hear recruits talk about Bama, it's always about coach cheese or coach Ball. You rarely hear them mention Kines or Rader that much. Is that the way it usually goes in other programs? Occasionally I hear a Kines mention, but rarely a Rader one, but neither a lot. To use a baseball analogy, are the regular coordinators like your starting pitchers...get you through 7 innings, and then come the OC and DC's usually like Set up men , and then the coach/closer?

The coordinators are not assigned areas or specific recruits they oversee the overall recruiting effort along with CMS and the recruiting coordinator.

RECRUITING NOTEBOOK: Tide coaches go door to door
The Crimson Tide’s coaches have hit the road for in-home visits as each are responsible for an assigned recruiting territory. Each coach evaluates talent at local and national levels and builds relationships early on in the recruiting process with prospects and high school coaches. The assistant coaches make recommendations to coach Mike Shula about invitations to the Capstone for official visits as well as extending scholarships to student-athletes. Shula is also involved with in-home visits.

The coaches are in the final stretch as they prepare for national signing day Feb. 1. Here is a look at the recruiting areas the Alabama coaches are assigned.

Also, all Div-IA teams are limited in the number of assistant coaches who can recruit off-campus. Two assistants must stay off the road, per NCAA regs. Typically, those are your coordinators. They can recruit the kids once the kids come to school on visits, however.

Prince Hall came to Alabama largely because of Joe Kines.
