Kristy Curry To USF

Kristi Curry inherited a mess. She turned it around to a winning program. Bama ranks last in spending on WBB in the SEC. Don’t know if that made a difference or not. Thirteen years is a long tenure. She may have wanted a change. She definitely left the program better than she found it.
I agree. I mentioned on the thread in Wonen’s Sports that Kristy is approaching 60 years old. The SEC is a tremendously competitive league. She gets a new contract, probably a significant raise and probably time to build a program. In 5-7 years she can walk away into retirement. And probably will find herself in a much less demanding position.

I have no idea what direction Byrne will go with this next hire.

I read something on Tuesday that Bama was LAST in the SEC on money allocated or spent on women’s basketball. It was a graph showing all the schools but I can’t find it now.

Curry laid a solid foundation for the next coach to advance the program even more. No idea who AD GB wants to hire but he needs to be willing to open up some money.

She definitely improved the program. But it had hit the ceiling with her at the helm. The team was nowhere close to being competitive with the league's top teams. And there does need to be more investment in the women's program but I'm sure it's hard to justify because the program doesn't make money.

But I keep going back to last year's team. Despite the disadvantages in the program, that team had a lot of talent with three WNBA draft picks. And they had a good year but still didn't make it past the second round in the NCAAT or really compete consistently with the SEC's top teams. Again, that goes to the ceiling with that coaching regime. Maybe this next hire will bring an Oats type hire to the women's side.

Women's basketball will never make money until they get their own tv deal, South Carolina dose not make money, they lost 5.3 million and Bama lost 4.6! But South Carolina has notoriously been good since Staley has been there, so that's the trade off

Hoping we can bring in the coach from Alabama A&M, she would be a Oats-type hire imo and would be great for the program/recruiting

Can you give us some info? 🤔
