Last TD was incredibly high risk

That last TD was such a low percentage play. Getting PI was also not on table for such quick play. Could have been pick 6 other way.

CNS would never have called that play. Would have kicked FG or have some running play.

It was the right call and a call that was still the correct even if it failed. Had we kicked the FG I guarantee you Auburn would’ve tied it and took us to OT with all the momentum in the world. Atleast if the 4th down failed Auburn would have been forced to drive out of their own end zone to win it.

My only issue with going for it is if you knew you going to do it then why was the 3rd down play not a run or a high percentage play to gain yards.

CNS would never have called that play. Would have kicked FG ….

And after he did he would’ve lost that game. Our defense would’ve never kept them out of FG range and we would’ve probably never beaten them in OT with all the momentum in the world. Forcing them to get 7 or at worst driving out of their own end zone to get a game winner with a Mickey Mouse quarterback was the correct call.

Legends are made on these nights and in moments like 4th-and-2 in a tie game with 87,000-plus in the stands and 11 more on the field making life unbearable.

Kick the field goal and play it safe?

Nah. Not when you’ve got Ty Simpson looking for Isaiah Horton in the end zone.

And Ty was late on the throw. Horton was WIDE open for a moment but Ty hesitated and made it a tighter window than it had to be.

But it worked. Nothing else matters.

Yeah I just rewatched it for the 1st time since seeing it live last night.

I didn’t even see the replays before because I was losing my mind…lol

But it was tons of space to hit the throw and as you say the slight beat of hesitation made it shrink to an NFL window.

But Ty did make the accurate throw and Bless Horton for hauling it it!!

Horton earned every penny of his NIL on last night alone.

Impressed with CKD and the gumption of this team. They were fading down the course of the game and then marched it down the field and then punched the Barners in the throat. Gutsy call by DeBoer, and I think he knew we wanted no part of OT.

It is a difference between Saban and DeBoer. DeBoer is very comfortable taking risks while Saban was risk averse. They both have their pros and cons and in games like last night give me taking some risks. If we would have kicked the fg Auburn more than likely takes game to overtime. DeBoer took their fg kicker out of the game and put it on a QB who's only started four games all year.

The play worked, and we can happily enjoy the result. It was at least an equal chance that it would have not worked. It isn’t the style of play calling that sits well with me. I like high percentage of success play calling. I don’t like putting so much responsibility on QB1 (high traffic, pinpoint throws in high pressure situations).

It would not have worked against a better team than Auburn.

I loved the call myself, as much as I hate The Barn, that was a statement type call by Coach Deboer & the kinda call that will make or break a football HC with his fanbase..

It made me feel better about Coach Deboer & hope we use that kinda aggression more often on offense..
