Faurot Field certainly wasn’t the same place after a 38-minute lightning delay sent thousands of already-drenched Missouri fans home for good. Alabama wasn’t the same team, either.
With Alabama up 27-0 and playing arguably its best football of the season after a T.J. Yeldon 15-yard touchdown run with 8:40 to play in the second quarter, the field was cleared as the lightning that had flashed in the sky for hours finally came too close for comfort. The Crimson Tide returned to the field, knocked its extra point through the uprights and then promptly surrendered 10 unanswered points for the first time this season.

This was the kind of historyDee Milliner didn’t want to see repeated. The junior cornerback stood on the sidelines during Saturday’s third quarter when quarterback AJ McCarrontried to duck away from a sack and spun awkwardly to the ground. The names of Jalston Fowler, Jarrick Williams, Dee Hart and DeAndrew White, all of whom are out for the season with knee injuries, flashed through Milliner’s head. “When he first went down, I was like, ‘oh man, we got another person that's down,’” Milliner recalled after the Crimson Tide’s 42-10 victory over Missouri. “I saw him grabbing his knee, and I was hoping it wasn't an ACL.”

NEXT WEEK￾
Another week, another road trip for the No. 1 team in the nation to meet another overmatched opponent. If it’s the third Saturday in October, it must be Tennessee. It’ll be a Sunseri family reunion in Knoxville as youngest son Vinnie shows dad Sal’s UT defense how it’s done.

On three different plays, three different Crimson Tide football players showcased the athleticism found on the roster of the nation's No. 1-ranked team: Eddie Lacy hurdled a Missouri defender on an over-the-top touchdown plunge, Christion Jones did a 360-degree, end-over-end flip on a punt return and T.J. Yeldon went horizontal from nearly 5 yards out on a dive into the end zone for another score.
Alabama football coaches might see that sort of thing all the time, but the plays made an impression on UA track and field coach Dan Waters, who was watching on television. He saw skill sets that could be well utilized in his sport.

Lacy picked up nearly as many yards on that first run as he had all game against Ole Miss. The junior running back credits his mindset coming in. “I came in with a positive mindset,” he said. “I don’t try to think a certain way. The running backs, we haven’t had a big run in a long time, and I was able to do it today, but it was just because I was thinking positive.” Lacy finished with 18 carries for a career-high 176 yards and three touchdowns.
