I think y'all need to get a grip. Who cares what happens to a coach at another school? Personally, I'd think that Bama fans would show some class and empathize with other schools' fans in the event they have to change coaches. Haven't we learned how seriously disruptive the coaching carousel is? Look at what it's done to our program over the past ten years. Only now are we in a position of stability, after a very long drought.

I wouldn't wish that on even my worst enemy. I want all the coaches who've been putting an annual beatdown on us over the past decade to stick around and see what it's like to play a stable Alabama program. They've all forgotten what a stable Alabama program can do. I want the playing field to be level. I don't want any of them to have the excuses we've had the past ten years. I want them to all play as well as they can so we can dominate them and put them back in their rightful places in the SEC heirarchy.

Sorry I don't agree with you, why wouldn't I want the other schools to go thru what Alabama has gone thru? Simple, Phil, Tubs and Miles and anyone else would simply like to see Bama STAY DOWN. They do not want to play Bama on a level field. They know with Coach Saban there things are going to change.

I believe just what Lynard Skynard said in earlier post, "where was the SEC when Alabama needed them most"? They left them out to dry, just like they would now. Sorry I do not live in Politically correct world but the SEC can stick it...

Because it's classless and spiteful and a waste of emotional energy perhaps? It would also make any wins we have over them mean less. I want those wins to mean something. There is no valor in beating a beaten man.

It has nothing to do with political correctness. It has to do with "acting like you've been there" and taking the high road. It has to do with being the best by beating the best, not by beating the worst.

And if you're so down on the SEC, perhaps another conference would be more to your liking? Are you a PAC-10 kinda guy in crimson-colored clothing? Again, sitting at the top of a conference such as that means less (at least in my eyes) than sitting at the top of the best conference there is...the SEC. Love 'em or hate 'em, they're our family (even the inbred ones) and I'd rather be the big fish program in a pond of other big fishes than the big fish in a guppy pond.

We can agree to disagree.

I was under the impression that Miles had an escape clause in his contract if Michigan offered him. I was interested to see how that clause was phrased, so I checked out the contract, and got a surprise.

The contract provides for a $500,000 buyout if Miles "leaves the employment of the university" before its term ends. However, "should Coach accept employment at the University of Michigan," the ante goes up to $1,250,000.

Either I misread what I have read in the media, or some people didn't do their homework, or there's been a change in the contract since the original one. Shrug, just thought it was interesting.

That's just the thing, many of us haven't been there before!! I'm 23, almost 24 and I was only 8 years old when we won the MNC in 1992. It's hard to act like I've been there when I haven't.

I care about my family, a lot more than I care about the family across town. And I care about the family across town a lot more than I care about the family in the another state. So on and so on. . .

Just like I care about Alabama a lot more than I care about LSU or Vandy. And I care about LSU and Vandy more than I care about Texas, or Cal, or Purdue. . .

The SEC is one big dysfunctional family. I want the other teams to suffer when they play us, but I also want them to play well and beat all of their non-conference opponents.

Ask LSU who their #2 Rival is, ask the same to MSU, or Vandy. Ask most SEC schools and we will always be one of the top 2 or 3 conference opponents they want to beat more than any other team. Most people enjoy seeing us down, they like to watch us suffer. I want to see my Alabama family happy much more than I want to see the LSU family, or the Vandy family happy. If it makes most of my Alabama family happy to see LSU suffer. Then tough luck LSU, looks like my foot is on your neck . . .
