I'm a huge Clapton fan, but there are a lot of excellent players out there that are good at what they do and many that will spend their time on the club circuit. There are a lot of underrated that have made it also. I think Ed King was really underrated for Skynyrd and Ted Nugent (I don't care about their politics because it the music is good I'll still listen!).

You mentioned Glen Campbell—recently saw a video of him and Jimmy Webb (piano)together. They performed Webb’s song “McArthur Park.” Best version I’ve heard. Glen sang and of course hit every note (no small feat), then quickly swapped his mike for his guitar and absolutely shredded the song’s bridge. Two peak artists of their time, on stage together, complementing each other.
