Liberals Despise Christ

Bob Jones III said Thursday he will retire as president of the fundamentalist Christian university that bears his name and his son will take over.

When Jones retires, following the school's graduation ceremonies in May, he will be replaced by the Rev. Stephen Jones, who has served as vice president for administration.

"The opportunity to step into the role occupied by my father, grandfather and great-grandfather is overwhelming," Stephen Jones, 35, said. "I am eager for the days that lie ahead for Bob Jones University and believe that the Lord has wonderful things in store for us as we remain faithful to his word."

In a congratulatory letter after Bush won re-election in November, Jones III wrote: "In your re-election, God has graciously granted America — though she doesn't deserve it — a reprieve from the agenda of paganism."

"You have been given a mandate. ... Put your agenda on the front burner and let it boil. You owe the liberals nothing. They despise you because they despise your Christ," said the letter, dated Nov. 3.

So liberals are supposed to despise Christ, huh? Wow, I guess the REVEREND Jesse Jackson hasn't heard the news. Or the Catholic John Kerry.

Then again, the folks at Bob Jones don't think Catholics are real Christians. Or Mormons. Or--y'know, maybe liberals just have a different way of practicing Christianity than by loving the Lord and hating 80% of His flock.

If Jesse is a Reverend, why doesn't he preach the gospel and unity rather than division and racism?

You liberals have this picture of a pansy weak "tolerate everything" Christ. I got news for ya, Christ didn't (and still doesn't) tolerate everything. If you would read your Bible you would see that.

The left has a burning desire to rid America of all things CHRISTIAN.

I know some Mormons who would be surprised to be told they don't teach Christianity. The full name of their church is "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints", and there's a crucifix on the altar of their temples. Most Mormons I know do more just by their example of living to demonstrate respect for the Gospels' principles of conduct than anyone else I know--especially those on the far left and right who preach hatred.

I don't claim to know everything, but I don't go throwing around looney tunes statements like "liberals [or conservatives, or any other broad brush group like that] hate Christ." That's not even cheap political rhetoric, it's just DUMB.

And calling Jesse Jackson a hateful racist is dumb, too. There's plenty of REAL reasons not to pay attention to him. That ain't one of them.

This makes me giddy. We can now add Bob Jones to the growing list headed by Roy Moore of topics that make otherwise reasonable sane people spiral out of control.

I'd like to think most of us fall somewhere in between Air America and Free Republic. Not so sure any more.
