That one video sound byte about Coach Saban starting his day with two Little Debbie Snack Cakes probably sold them about nine gazillion boxes.

That honestly was about a million bucks worth of advertising for free.

It probably won't be long before we hear the slogan "Great Pair Say's The Nick...Hot Coffee and Little Debbie Snack Cakes"!!

Now, it's early, so if ya'll will excuse me I have to enjoy mine :)

Little Debbie has been using that little tidbit ever since. Check out this PDF file on their website,

Little Debbie in Popular Culture

"Nick Saban, the highest paid college football coach in the United States and head coach of the University of Alabama, eats Little Debbie® Oatmeal Creme Pies each morning."
I think it'd be great if they were able to get a billboard with Nick, ala Golden Flake and Coach Bryant.

He might oughta read the label closely. My nephew used to work in that plant and he wouldn't eat anything out of it. I used to give him a hard time about it. Of course, he was an Adventist, as is the plant owner...

Nahhh, it's like Jello and hotdogs. It tastes good; it hasn't killed anyone; and, while you don't really want to know what's in it, you don't really care what's in it.

;)

I would be willing to bet that Coach Saban hasn't had to buy a box of Little Debbies in a long time - I bet he has been supplied with them from the company.

Kind of what I was thinking. If they haven't already, Little Debbie needs to dump off a year's supply of those things at the football complex.

Earle...please don't tell me what your nephew told you...I don't want to know! I LOVE LITTLE DEBBIE OATMEAL PIES and pretty much everything else they make! While I don't eat a lot of it (because I do know the amount of Fat and Sugars in them) I do love them! I had an Oatmeal Pie on the way to the Iron Bowl this weekend come to think of it.

I would like to know what him being an Adventist has to do with it? I understand that they worship on Saturday's, but don't know much else about their beliefs. How does what's in the plant disagree with their beliefs?

Inquiring minds want to know :)!

I can't eat the oatmeal creme pies, I found extra protein baked into a cookie one time. that is not hear say , third party, or other, that is something I experienced first hand.
that being said, consumer reports use to rank baking flour and biscuit/pancake mixes based on the percentage of bug parts found in the mix. to answer any questions, none had zero percent! look in consumer reports circa 1982-83. I don't know if they still do, I adopted the ignorance is bliss credo myself, so I stopped buying those issues of CR. sorry If I may have ruined your culinary experience, if you want more, I have some juicy Taco bell info I could share in another thread

I am a professional baker (30 years), worked for McKee Foods (Little Debbie) in R&D during the '90's. The McKee family are Seventh Day Adventist and are as nice and special people as you would ever want to meet. They are completely dedicated to their company and their employees, sharing their profits each year. They have excellent benefits and perks for all employees. Their resources are second to none, facilities and support functions are the best I have ever seen. I miss working for them.
Their Sales force used to be heavy Bama fans, talking Director and VP level.. and we shared quite a few Roll Tides during Stallings years.. especially '92...
The McKees themselves are not great football fans, as they are practicing their religion on the Sabbath, dutifully.

The oatmeal cookies,, well, yeah the ingredient label shows it's not the best thing for your body, but great for your taste buds!!! He he....
Thing is, every baker has an oatmeal type cookie in their product line, as you can use up yesterday's product in the recipe with little effect on performance.
It's a treat, just enjoy them!!! I still do.

If you are looking for zero of some things we don't like to think we eat then you'll never again eat a packaged item...and frankly few would eat out at restaurants if you knew that too. With that said, I still don't want to know all of the nasty details.

I used to eat cakes and pies daily. They are GOOD. But I asked myself one simple question, after I had read the label and saw the saturated in all of them. "Which is most important to me, my taste buds--or my heart?"

Most people will say taste buds. Don't believe it? Just watch them eat. People are digging their grave with their teeth.

p.s. I am 61 years old and have normal cholestrol and blood pressure. Both used to be high before I began reading labels.

But if I were going to eat one, it would be Little Debbie.

That's what makes fancy ketchup fancy: a lower acceptable percentage of bug parts.
