Thanks for the link. No doubt JW had an outstanding season and he did anchor the DL as evidenced by our defensive statistics.

Good to see you posting DU. I'm definately a fan of big Jesse, I love what he has done on the DL. Actually just about the whole family is a fan of his. Thanks for the link.

He deserves it - he's been awesome at clogging the middle. Tough job, but he's excelled at it. Another year of development will allow him to make a LOT of money playing on Sundays...

Ok Am I the only one that realizes he played more DE than DT. Chapman was in the middle most of the time. JW did play great and his speed consistently impressed me. He would catch RB's from behind that got pushed down the line. Just thought the writer could have actually watched some games before writing this up.

Great that he is getting some recognition because it's easy for a DLine player to do a great job and never get noticed. He is definitely a huge part of our ability to shut down the run, and he will be a great anchor in the middle again next year.

All three of our DL play to clog the middle of the field and drive the running backs outside.

When the JACK backer puts his hand down, Jesse slides inside to play more of a typical DT position, even though Chapman is the true NG.

Thanks for posting, DU. I'm a big fan of Jesse's and watched him closely all season. I saw huge improvement from Spring to Fall, and from early season to late season.......I can't wait to see how he plays after another Spring, Summer, and Fall camp under his belt.

Jesse was definitely one of those guys you saw get better as the year went on. Looking forward to seeing him in the big game next month and next season. He's a hoss.

While Alabama plays a 3-4 as it's base defense , it is pretty much only aligned in a true 3-4 around 10% of the time . The defense is purely multiple . Yes , Williams is a DE , but there's more too it . Prior to Jesse being banged up , and depending on the opponent , Chapman was the NT on first down , Williams on second down and Gentry on third down . His versatility will be a big plus once the 2013 draft rolls around .
