Looks like Shaun is finally going to speak his mind

And a front office, an offensive line, some wide receivers...

they just hired Nick Saban so that takes care of your front office needs....as far as the other positions go, Shaun is good enough to succeed with the line they have and a decent QB will show you the talent they have at WR....they just need a QB and a star running back and they could be set

Shaun...

very nearly did not play football this year. He came within an eyelash of leaving pro ball for full time Christian mission work. As it is, a major portion of his income goes directly to Christian concerns. It beggars belief that this man, of all men, could be accused of being selfish. What he did was state the truth. My fear at this point is that he will now really leave the NFL...

TIDE-HSV, I didn't know that, but it doesn't surprise me. I don't know why so many in the media adore Holmgren, but it appears they're going to take his side in this, or at least that's the way it looked on ESPNews this afternoon.

By the way I read on espn.com that Shaun apologized to the fans for the statements, but no mention was made of Holmgren.

when you're in the media you have to know on which side your bread is buttered....reporters have no need of talking to a player but have every need of talking with a coach

therefore they take his side

Sorry...

but it is a disgrace to compare a dedicated Christian with a dedicated "ganja man." Has Ricky done something for mankind that I don't know about?

my post wasn't meant as a comparison....I was merely saying I have no problem with his leaving the NFL so long as he does it in a graceful and classy way

That's OK...

I can't imagine his doing it any other way. At this point, considering what almost happened last year, I'd consider it 50/50 between going to another team and leaving pro ball. I just hope he realizes that Holmgren isn't necessarily what the NFL is about. I'm about to turn in - catch you in the AM...

If I was in Shaun's situation, I would have probably said reacted in a similar manner. However, I was still surprised that Shaun reacted that way publicly.

I think it would be great if Shaun would go to another team. He would get more touches and I would get to see him play more.

After the QB sneak, Shaun went to the sidelines and watched the rest of game. Any other running back probably would have went over to his coach and either punched him or chewed him out on camera. Shaun deserves better than this.

$crew Holmgren...

Shaun is a good young man, has tons of class and is a competitor.

If he popped off like this 3-4 times a year, I would not agree with it.

With that being said, he apologized to the fans, but not the coaches. I believe Shaun has suffered under Holmgren's system.

Holmgren fancies himself as a "kingmaker" who can make or break a player's career. He got along fine with Favre in Green Bay, because he knew Favre was his meal ticket. Without Favre, he has no Super Bowl rings.

Holmgren is a better than average coach, but his team has underachieved yet again. You can't blame that on Shaun. He has mis-managed Shaun's talents since they drafted him. Without Shaun, they don't even sniff the playoffs.

I don't know how Holmgren stands up and makes statements about wanting Shaun to have the rushing title and manages to keep a straight face. He knew he stuck it to him. When your biggest playmaker only touches the ball 19 times, it's obvious something is cooking.

Holmgren has never liked Shaun's practice habits. Neither did the genius Ivy Williams, who wouldn't put Shaun on the field because he wouldn't block hard enough or practice hard enough before a game. It's like asking Secreteriat to pull a plow for goodness sake!

I hope Shaun carries the Seahawks through the playoffs to the Super Bowl, has a great Pro Bowl and then tells Holmgren and company to shove it.

There are plenty of teams who would appreciate his talents much more.

Screw Holmgren. :mad2:

After thought...

I believe it was deliberate on Holmgren's part. If my memory serves, he's no longer the GM, with sole power over personnel matters. You know that the PTB above him would not OK letting SA go without a major effort to retain him. Holmgren wants rid of him and about the only way he had a chance was to make Shaun angry enough to leave. I think that's exactly what he did. It's the only way 19 carries makes any sense whatsoever...

"Anyone here who has never sinned can cast the first stone" John 8:7 Has anyone of you never said anything in a heated moment? He just played in a game where the defense was keying on him and they have a pretty good team too. He was tired, hot, hurting from the pain, and disapointed in being JUST 1 yard short of the record. For crying out loud...He is a human being, we were blessed to have him at Bama where he didn't get the ball like he should have until his Junior Year. What kind of rushing yards would he have had if CGS gave Shaun the ball in his first 2 years? My $00.02
