LSU at AUBURN

I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I figure this is just another one of those games where two teams were in different places. LSU thought this one would be a cake walk while abarn was playing to maintain a shred of dignity. LSU is probably better than they looked tonight while abarn probably isn't as good. LSU doesn't look as strong as last year, but I doubt they're as weak as they looked tonight.

You may well be right, but LSU had a slow start last week as well then came on strong in the second half and poured on points against a weaker opponent. I kept waiting for that in this game against the barn, but LSU played as badly in the second half as the first. No adjustments or improvements anywhere during the second half.
I find it hard to believe no matter how bad they thought Auburn was they would not take playing their first road game seriously especially in the SEC. Like Earle and BB, I tend to think they just have a few issues that Auburn exposed. Still time for them to improve though.

I agree that the jury's still out - barely. I'm basically disappointed in the entire SEC, with the possible exceptions of UF and USCe. I'm not ready to put UGA in that group, yet...

I kinda like it when Bama stands head and shoulders above the rest of the SEC. Seems like old times.

There's a drop off in the secondary from last year to this year. The loss of their LT is killing the consistency of their OL. They'll block good on two plays then look like crap for three. Their WR's drop A LOT of balls. Mettenberger to this point looks average....at best. And that's being kind. Plus, this isn't the same team as last year's team. It doesn't have the same chemistry. You can tell it. But I want to see them play Florida, aTm and USCe before I rubber stamp them a pretender. But right now all signs are pointing to that.
Yep. That program has been Sabanized and may never recover. :) Mettenberger sure is a disappointment. Well, not to us, but for LSU I'm sure. He looked below average to me last night. Once he has to get even a bit out of the pocket, he's a hot mess.

I said API would knock them off it being a home cooking game & all but just missed it.

Either this puts a scare into a very good LSU team, like 10rc did to us in 2009 or they just goe exposed as a fraud. I'm not sure we can say which yet, but I am sure their QB is no where near what they said he was.

I tend to believe that it was a combination of several things. First, LSU bought into the "we're great " and "Auburn is horrible " hype. Problem is, AU had prepared more for them than they had in previous weeks AND the barn was at home. The Au fan base played a huge part in the game as well.
From what I saw, LSU wasn't nearly as good as they thought they were, nor were they as prepared as they should have been. All these things put together, LSU was very lucky to scrape by with a win.

I am in total agreement with this Dallas. IMO, au figured out pretty quick that Mettenberger was not a down field passing threat and certainly was not going to hurt them running the ball, so they kept a lot of defenders in the box. LSU is the most undisciplined team I have seen this year and that includes au.

As for November 3rd; I do not expect to see the same LSU team that was in auburn last night. I do think that au will improve and should beat, Arkansas, Vandy and Ole Miss. TAMU could go either way. I think we will know more about LSU after its trip o Florida.

LSU showed all the characteristics of a poorly coached, undisciplined team on Saturday night. Their schedule has been way too easy for their own good. The fun times and the goofing off are about to be over for LSU. After Towson comes to Baton Rouge this Saturday, the schedule gets rough. Real rough. If there are any leaders on that team, they better have a meeting with everybody and let them know that bad performances like the last one will get them blown out in these upcoming games. They survived against auburn ONLY because auburn is worse off than they are in terms of coaching and discipline.

Auburn being at home helped a good bit. As Todd pointed out numerous times, the DL will always get more motivated by the AU crowd. Because of the way Ford and Lemonior play at home, Arky better watch out in two weeks.

Just an observation... AU should be running the triple option out of the shotgun. Split Mason and McCaleb and let Frazier run the triple option with those two. It'd work well for them.
