BREAKING LSU Firing Brian Kelly

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

i have said a long time ago that the wheel is going to run off the bus real soon for many teams. The money is not infinite. You cant keep firing coaches and paying 20-50 million dollar buyouts and then having to pay 20-40 million each year in roster. It will not make financial sense. Sadly, it will be even worse when all of this irons itself out as to who rises to the top.

Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State do not have the payroll buyouts that other programs do. Firing your coach is a dangerous thing in the era of football

I hope DeBoer continues along the current track and that our crazy boosters and fanbase understand that the world has changed...

Kiffin has it made at Ole Miss, and he should stay there. If he decides to jump to one of these other schools, he hasn't learned a dang thing.

LSU is by far the best job open, and I'd go get Key from GA Tech. As others have mentioned, their AD should be fired while they are cleaning house...
Kiffin could do so much more at LSU than he ever could at Ole Miss. Those jobs simply aren't the same.

I don’t think CKD is a concern, but our OC/DC could be considered for the open positions.
Oh, trust me, I have accepted the fact that we're losing Grubb. I suspected from the beginning he was only going to be here one year. I honestly don't know how to feel about potentially losing Wommack, which I guess means I wouldn't be sad if we lose him...

I wouldn't shed any tears over losing the Grubb that called plays for the first 50 minutes of the USCe game.

His whole Jekyll-and-Hyde routine is maddening.

I wonder if Brian Kelly becomes a candidate for the Penn State job? He had a lot of success at Cincy and he took Notre Dame to the BCSCG. I know they want better than multiple losses every year, that's why they fired Franklin, but if they can't get Cignetti and with the LSU and Florida jobs already being open not sure who they can go with.

Not like that program has a problem with disgusting people...

None of these top coaches are making any type of announcement until they are done with the playoffs. Auburn could fire Freeze after the IB and still get into a bidding war for someone. But...

AU's problem, whether they fire Freeze now or later, is that these top coaches ain't considering them even if they were the only job available, but especially not with LSU, UF, and Penn State on the market. They are going to be fighting for seconds and thirds with the likes of Ole Miss, Vandy, and whoever else loses their coach to those big 3.

They will once again settle for an "up and comer hopeful", a "has been trying to reshape his image", or most likely someone with ties to the family because they will "know Auburn". Maybe a surprise name that is privately just hoping for a big buyout check in a few years. You can easily wait until after the IB for any of these outcomes.
SHH...don't tell AU they probably would be better off hiring a 2nd tier guy. Might get a better coach than some of the "name" guys and wouldn't have to pay as much.

If they were smart right now they'd fire Freeze and hire Golesh and they'd be better off immediately!

The logic that the 3 guys before BK won NCs is flawed in my opinion.

CNS - of course

Coach Grass-eater - won with CNS recuits and lucked out with BCS and 2 losses to still win a NC

Coach Cajun - won the talent lottery in 2019. Anybody on this board could have coached that team to a NC.

Maybe I'm making their argument for them, but I think the sane choice for best job opening is Florida in the SEC and Penn St in the B1G.

So he walked into a meeting with his boss who didn't plan on firing him...and yet he got fired anyway. Bold strategy...
Yeah, he didn't want to fire who was in charge of his biggest issue - the offense. I don't know if firing Joe Sloan, the OC would have saved him anyway, as it looks like everyone from the Louisiana governor on down wanted Kelly gone. One reporter says two things were Kelly's downfall - he talked a big game, but he never delivered on that talk.

That's literally his entire career

I'm feeling even more confident that PSU is going to hire Rhule. He played there and is friends with current AD Kraft, who hired him at Temple. Also not many stories here about who might be the next coach leading me to believe they possibly have their man. The downside is that he lost 18 straight against Top 25 teams, which could make him another Franklin.

Golesh will have FAR better offers
But my point is that he's "2nd tier" compared to LK, James Franklin, etc. (as most people see it), so AU could go ahead and strike first on him while everybody else goes after the "big names."

Not that AU will do something smart!

They are convinced they are the "best job in college football."
