BREAKING LSU Firing Brian Kelly

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

But my point is that he's "2nd tier" compared to LK, James Franklin, etc. (as most people see it), so AU could go ahead and strike first on him while everybody else goes after the "big names."

Not that AU will do something smart!

They are convinced they are the "best job in college football."
If they can get Golesh, they'll be better off immediately, but I just feel like he will take one of the premier jobs available. I think if Kiffin doesn't take the UF job, then Golesh will.

CBK's firing leaves so many openings in Division 1 that Auburn's decision makers should probably decide to keep CHF for another year.... but will they take the time to think this through? We'll see.
The LSU job is the premier job available right now and will be even if the barn and/or the criminoles fire their HCs.

Sorry, but Franklin being considered "top-tier" is ridiculous... 😳

Lea's HC record is 9-27 (.250) without Pavia at QB...
maybe so, but plenty of coaches with good or better talent still falter (kelly, napier, etc)

Pavia is good, but there is a pretty good team effort going on both sides of the ball... with vanderbilt talent

defense gave up 10 to Missouri, 7 to south carolina, 24 to LSU, etc. He is beating teams with much better rosters, depth, and overall talent.

Mullen left MS State and I made the argument that I did not think he would be successful since he was just an 8-4 coach. Alternative argument was made that he didnt have talent at MS State. Guess i am on the opposite side of the fence on this one.

I don’t think CKD is a concern, but our OC/DC could be considered for the open positions.
Our OC kinda made it known that he isn’t particularly interested in coaching in the South long term. Obviously money talks, but I’m not sure which of these jobs would interest him, or who would gamble on him after his NFL failure. There are so many openings already though, not even including ones that will open up at the end of the season…

I don't see any of these schools going after CRG. They'll be after guys with HC experience.

He is a pompous arrogant jerk.

and he killed a guy
It makes me laugh that the Saban meme- even played up in the commercials he does- is the uptight jerk. Meanwhile, players love him and always have. And while he asked a lot of his assistants, I don’t think guys actually hated him or working for him. But guys like Kelly are actively hated by most people they interact with.

At this level everyone thinks they are studs at what they do, but people lose sight of one of the most important aspects of leadership and management- you’ve got to be a team player and have some emotional intelligence. The brainiac guy with no personality is good for sitting in a back room grinding on analysis, and that is about his effective ceiling. Unlikable jerks will destroy an organization quickly.

If teams take on the persona of their coaches I can see why Gene Stallings won a national championship and Brian Kelley is where he is. He's one of those coaches who can do it for a few years but eventually the players see real coach and they wind up losing the team....and getting fired.
