Madden 2006: Backwards Compatible

Thinking about getting a xbox 360. Can you play Madden 2006 on it?

According to the backwards compatibility list you can't:

I guess you could buy the 360 version though or wait for '07.

Nope. And I wouldn't expect the Madden or NCAA series to ever hit the backwards compatibility list either. I just don't see EA helping out in this regard because they want you to buy the latest version.

There is supposed to be a backwards compatability update in a few weeks though. Something like a dozen titles. Guess we'll see then.

Thanks! I guess I'll just wait a couple of months for 2007. NCAA 2007 I think comes out next month. Can't wait!

According to Microsoft...

Every game on the Xbox will be backwards compatible at some point in the future...this of course excludes all games that have a current 360 counterpart. It makes sense that they would rather you buy the 360 version of a game if it exists. I read somewhere that they have to make the games compatible one at a time because it requires different code for each game. They do plan to make all other Xbox games compatible eventually.

I am looking forward to my copy of NCAA 2007 when it comes in July 18th! BDS is gonna be rockin!!!

Madden didn't make the list

As Peter Moore promised in this week's podcast, there is a new backwards compatibility update immediately available over Xbox Live. This free update adds more titles to the already over 200 original Xbox games that can be played on your Xbox 360.
