I've been very excited about Mark Barron ever since he committed to Alabama. I think he's going to be an All-American by the time he's done at Alabama.

His pass coverage and on-field intelligence is coming along nicely. That's what kept him off the field in favor of Green earlier...

Yeah, he's done a lot of good things in all 3 games this season, but today he looked strong throughout with few mistakes.

He looked good. I think the one touchdown was his responsibility though.
Hey, are you two related? But seriously, MB played a very good game and wasn't responsible for the TD. They ran a crossing route that tied up Reamer and that is why we gave up the TD. Look that was really good execution on their part and not the fault of one of our players. Sometimes the other side wins. Luckly for us it was only on this play.

The thing I like best about #4 is that when he hits the runner, the runner goes backwards. He's saved several first downs when the opposing receiver has caught the ball two yards from the marker and immediately been knocked into oblivion.

He really lays the wood. My favorite kind of safety.

I agree with you on that it was like they was hitting a brick wall and bounced backwards...

Negative.

Barron had the receiver on the inside route. Reamer had the RB out of the backfield and got caught up with Barron's receiver.
Cory Reamer was supposed to be on the running back, who went out and caught the pass. Barron followed the receiver across the middle.
I'm not saying ya'll are wrong, but how do you know this? Are you basing this assessment on the input of the TV announcers? I don't know which one made the wrong read but watching the play I could see how either player COULD be responsible for the RB. I don't know the play call or even if I did the responsibilities of either player so I can't tell you who should have made the play. I do think Baron has progressed nicely and made some nice plays on pass breakups as well as his normal physical presence. His future is undoubtably bright!

I think it was pretty clear we were playing man by judging the coverage from the rest of the guys on that play the TD was scored by UNT. I believe Reamer had the tailback responsibility but just got caught up with the hitch route by the slot receiver which was Barron's responsibility. Honestly...it was more like the hitch was a "natural pick" which took Reamer out of the play...just a good playcall for the coverage and a little bit of luck with Reamer running right into the slot guy while moving laterally to matchup on the tailback.

Barron played well but will have to improve each and every week...but I like the progress.

IF his coverage skills progress, stays healthy, and stays for all 4 years, he will be an A-A candidate. If you doubt it, check out the last 10 years of SS's which were highly drafted... and notice a common denominator - Alasippi's comment is the answer.

He had a terrific pass breakup at one point that prevented a big play, which was extremely nice to see. We'll need our entire secondary to be on their "A" game this coming week, Mallett can wing it.
