That was a "get right" game that we needed badly! When we shoot the 3 well, we are hard to beat. Maybe we'll heat up as a team from 3 going forward.
Observations:
1. I really like it when we have Beds and Sherrell playing at the same time. It allows Sherrell to play more like a power forward and face the basket. Despite his massive body, he's a forward trapped in a bigger person's body. Get Allen on the floor as a 3 with this combo and it could be our best "big" lineup!
2. Seems like there has been some emphasis on FT shooting! And when you combine us doing it better with what Mizzu did last night, a big scoring gap occurs. Their big was 1 of 7 from the FT line, IIRC.
3. Philon was better at the point last night. The more games we have him NOT being our featured scorer, the better we'll become as a scoring team. And when Philon passes better, the team follows suit. That may have been our best "team passing" game we've had in a while! And it led to more made 3s!
4. Playing Time: I'm not certain why Williamson is playing at this point. He's been a huge disappointment in terms of what we thought he could offer. Bethea has been another disappointment. He may be one of the most skilled guys on the roster. CNO is trying to reach him by taking away his PT to get his attention. But his body language on the bench last night was disturbing. I've seen guys look like they were mentally and emotionally checked out on the bench, and that's what he looked like last night. We really need Bethea to re-engage. If Philon were to get injured, we need him to play point to avoid shaking up the rotation no more than necessary because Holloway is just better off the ball and we need Allen to be more in a 3's role. FWIW, Bethea should be watching Holloway play defense. He's really improved his efforts. He's just limited because of his size. If Bethea gave the same effort as Holloway on defense, he'd be hard to keep off the court!
