While I prefer if we would have won this game, this loss is probably more valuable RIGHT NOW than a win.
We've seen the enemy and now we know what it'll take to win a game like this.
Rebounding is the low-hanging fruit. It's true, but playing the type of offense we do, we will rarely ever OUT-rebound teams like this. I mean, we only lost by 7 and got outrebounded by 25. YES, we have to be better on the boards...BUT...
We are a guard-oriented offense. Our guards did not play well in this game. Offensively AND defensively. On offense, Hollaway was the exception, but Philon and Wrightsell struggled...honestly, they were terrible. The fact we only lost by 7 with the way Philon and Wrightsell played is almost the bigger story. And on defense, the #1 reason we lost this game is we got owned on the high screen pick ALL night. Their 5' 10" PG had wide open 3s all night long and hit most of them. We NEVER adjusted the whole game. To me, that's on CNO as much as the players.
So, hold their PG to fewer points (think he had 29) AND if our guards play better we still win this game despite getting out-rebounded by 25.
