Bama Game Thread: MBB - Bama vs North Dakota - Mon 11-3 7p Central - SECN+

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

It was fun to watch an Alabama sporting event and feel like a heart attack is coming.

More exciting basketball from CNO. I love his style of play. Too bad about all the injuries right now. These young guys are gonna have to grow up quickly with the schedule on the horizon.

Don't think we can really take away anything for certain give the strength of North Dakota... but there were some really good things about last night's game. In the exhibitions, it appeared that both Allen and Hannah were ahead of Jemison... but last night I'd put the order as Allen (1A), Jemison (1B), and Hannah a definite third. Just my guess here, but I think there will be some games where these 3 guys shift around in ranking - all will have some games where they'll be terrific but then will likely have some games (based on matchups) where they won't be effective. It doesn't appear points will be an issue - even with arguably our best two three-point shooters out, we scored - and as long as Philon stays on the floor we have a guy who can get to the rim at will when it's needed. Based on three times out, I'm thinking our "ceiling" this year will depend on how we play defense. Specifically, how we play defense among the big guys. I think our guarding on the perimeter is much improved this year - both Allen and Mallette were impressive last night and others were very good. Sherrill looked better, but Bol Bowen is going to bear watching - he was promptly removed from the game a few minutes in because he didn't play defense. Not sure how we stack up against St. John's, but Purdue usually brings talented bigs to play... we'll know a lot more after these next two games, but terrific start to the season last night. RTR

Hate that I missed it and can’t find a full replay because of the dispute. Always great to win. 3pt percentage bad this game but other stats pretty darn dominant.

I think 3pt % at the half was just under 44% from what I remember seeing on the scrolling board. The 2nd half was pretty sloppy.

Less Philon on court in 2nd. Toddlers bumping into each other. But effort was very good. Execution not as good.
Without Philon, offense was ragged. Forced Mallette to run point which took him out of shooting role. 3s in second half were forced, not many shot in the flow of the offense. Lots to clean up from this game but what an embarrassment of riches we win by 29 with 75% of our regular backcourt on the bench, defensive lapses, and a poor outside shooting night. Please Nate don’t ever bolt for NBA or Mich St.

At the game I was trying to remember what his first year was here. It's a little hard to believe this is his 7th season.

Wouldn't shock me to see Allen in the role some when Philon is taking a break.

Holloway can fill that role too. Even wonder about Hannah? Get him in the right matchup and we know what he can do at the rim!

But it may "point by committee," so to speak, for a while until the rotations work themselves out leading up to SEC play.

Hannah didn't look like a ball handler. He drove into several situations and was tied up and turned it over.

Yeah, I saw a few of those. I think a lot of that is just getting used to the speed of the game.

I was thinking more about an iso when he's got the right matchup.
