I have looked in other threads, but didnt see any info on how greg McElroy is doing in practice. Coach Shula (from what I have read) hasnt mentioned him as doing good so does that mean he isnt doin do hot? :BigA:

Which is what we're hoping for!!! While I am thrilled to read good things about Greg, the best case scenario is for JPW to do a GREAT job and Greg to redshirt! That way JPW would be a junior while Greg would be the back and a redshirt freshman, which would mean he'd start for two years and then hopefull we'll have another Redshirt next year and so on....that is the ultimate scenario where a player starts his Junior Year at QB for two years leaving a young guy a few years to develop and learn! From a QB standpoint that is the ultimate Coaching scenario!unless, we've just got mop-up duty for our back-up QB in '06.
Good things have been mentioned in summer workouts, but I think we should maybe let them get a few more real practices under the belt before we make any conclusions.I have looked in other threads, but didnt see any info on how greg McElroy is doing in practice. If he redshirts in 06, there will be two years between him and Wilson I think.I agree with you Alan, I hope McElroy will redshirt, so he will have an extra year once JPW leaves. Plus, that'll be a whole extra spring/fall to learn the offense:BigA:
Jimmy Barnes was supposedly the tenth best QB a few years ago. I wonder what the deal is???????:conf2:Personally, I have been somewhat dissapointed that Jimmy Barnes hasn't impressed many people. With his size and probably stamina (although I realize he's not the fastest afoot) that he could enhance the QB position. I'm rootin for JB.
Tenth best out of what group?Jimmy Barnes was supposedly the tenth best QB a few years ago. I wonder what the deal is???????:conf2:
Coach Shula and Rader are working on it, I'm sure. I'm just skiddish about the situation.I have also heard that Barnes is looking good physically and is starting to show why he was recruited so strongly by CMS.
He was listed on several recruiting web sites as being the 10th best QB- Pocket Passer (as high as #8 to as the lowest that I saw at around #20). Many did qualify that with a curiosity of whether it was his skills or the offensive system that Jimmy Barnes daddy ran as head coach.Tenth best out of what group?
You've asked a good question...one that I'd like to suggest something to you about...
FWIW, you'll find the search function here very valuable...to the point you can refine searches very easily and quite extensively. As example, in the last two weeks we've had 10 seperate threads dealing with McElroy.
...to add to what Audio said...we've had players comment that they think he's going to end up in the #2 slot...unless, we've just got mop-up duty for our back-up QB in '06.
