How did it go? I was unable to make it!

Did they discuss anything about the Georgia Alabama license plates?
Great turnout. I think I heard nearly 400 people were there. It was brutally hot but nobody passed out that I know about ;)

I thought Bobby did a great job given that just about the time he started to speak it started raining a bit and he cut short what he was going to say... He spoke for about 10 minutes and directed most of his talk toward the 40+ incoming freshmen from The ATL area. The thing that he emphasized most was for them to do their best to represent UA with class and dignity. He was generous with his time and his sharing of stories with all who came by to talk.

Bobby's a class act and a joy to be around. Hopefully anyone who has doubted him in the past will see that for the last 12+ years he's had his head screwed on straight and knows his life's mission now.

He and his wife (a former UAB track star) have a track club in the Hoover area. Their team placed well at nationals last week in their first trip to a national event.

As for the license plates, they're still working on that. The holdup is either at the DMV or at UA...I can't remember which. Just keep checking the http://www.atlabama.com website and they'll announce something there soon.

I had the opportunity to meet Bobby about three months ago. The company that he works for does business with the one that I work for. I was amazed at how he took time to introduce himself, shake hands with everyone, and take the time to share some old football stories. Also, when he has come back by, amazingly he seemed to remember each of us by name. He's a class act...

Bobby is my age. I got in trouble earlier in life, causing me to leave college without graduating. I later hit some of the lows that Bobby hit (plus some, minus some). The difference is, all Bobby's drama was public.

If you've never fought your way back from shame to respectability, it is hard to understand the encouragement that many of us get from seeing a fallen hero rise quietly from the ashes of destruction.

Good to see you doing well, Bobby. You are an even greater hero to me now than you were when you wore my favorite uniform.

God bless you.:BigA:
