He would probably do well as a Taysom Hill type player. Not a starter or backup, but an everything type. He could do well in that role. Plus anyone that drafts him will always have their emergency QBYeah, his 40 time is news everybody who played against him already knew.
And I saw a long pass he put on the money; against no defense; no surprise.
I think this changes nothing. He'll have to learn to operate against an NFL defense to be a backup, much less, a starter.
Odds are long, but I'm not going to root against him.
I literally said this very thing to a coworker yesterday. Frankly, he'll get paid because some team will draft him based on measurables (a la Anthony Richardson), but honestly, his path to consistent playing time and a second NFL contract is precisely what you said.He would probably do well as a Taysom Hill type player. IDK. It really depends on Jaxson Dart. I think his emergence as a serious candidate may have hurt Milroe’s path to the top 2 rounds. Yeah everyone is reporting the Steelers were at Alabama’s pro day and took Milroe out to dinner, but fail to say that they did the same for Dart. There will be a team who sees a use for him on their roster and there may even be a team with an already established QB who sees him as a future QB and they have the time to let him sit. But no way he doesn't get drafted within the first two rounds.
Here' s the problem with teams who are interested in Dart. There are "draft experts" who feel he showed enough at the combine to warrant a first round pick and won't even make it to the second round. Apparently his arm is stronger than what a lot of scouts first thought. So arm strength or lack thereof is now off the table for any team questioning that. He also did very well in the other exercises at the combine. I wanted my Raiders to make a move up in round two to get him (Dart) but I'm afraid now he won't be there. I'm not comfortable potentially passing on Mason Graham at the sixth pick to get Jaxon Dart either, especially seeing we just got Geno Smith. But Dart took full advantage of the combine and now has inserted himself in the conversation of first round money.IDK. It really depends on Jaxson Dart. Teams like the Steelers are in a tough spot in which their defense is elite but getting older and closer to a new contract. They are in “win now mode” and that’s why they are playing the long game with Rodgers right now. They really don’t have time to develop a “work in progress” at best quarterback because they already tried that with Pickett and Rudolph. I think the general consensus amongst Steelers insiders is that if they can’t get Dart at a reasonable draft pick then they will try to get Milroe as a 3rd round pick. Because it’s leaked that many Steelers scouts are not too high on Milroe. Some had him as a 4th rounder based on strictly his quarterbacking.
The problem is this is a bad draft for quarterbacks and many teams need quarterbacks. I thought from the start that Dart and Howard maybe the two quarterbacks that could have a sneakingly good chance of being a long term solution to someone’s quarterback problem. But Dart exploded at the combine and he now has that Trey Lance vibe amongst teams who “can’t pass on him”.Here' s the problem with teams who are interested in Dart. Yeah, I think at worst Dart is an early, early second-round pick. But I truly believe he will now be picked in the first round. Too many teams are desperate for the next "franchise QB" and I think he benefits from that demand. The problem is this is a bad draft for quarterbacks and many teams need quarterbacks. I think if someone really needs a quarterback from pick 15-32 then Dart would be a good pick if a bit of a stretch pick. But I don’t think he survives mid second round.
I agree. I don't think the scouts will care about his impact vs OU or UT. They will look at the measurables, the arm, and the potential. And the dearth of QBs available.I can tell you this, he is going to be drafted much higher than most of you haters think.
The problem is Pittsburgh doesn’t have an established quarterback. That’s why they are trying to get Rodgers. If Milroe goes to Pittsburgh he will likely be expected to start from day 1 if neither Rodgers or Wilson sign with them. Mason Rudolph is not going to be the starter unless all hell breaks in that they couldn’t woo Rodgers, couldn’t resign Wilson, and couldn’t get a quarterback to start right away.Milroe needs to go to a established organization, like Pittsburgh who have met with him, good organization, good coach and he can sit for one to two years and learn, otherwise I just don't see him making it as a long term QB
I don’t care where he gets drafted. The more pressing issue is people like you who think he’s being hated on because people point out the obvious flaws in his game. Milroe plays quarterback like a box of chocolates: you never know what you’re going to get from one bite to the next.I can tell you this, he is going to be drafted much higher than most of you haters think.
I don't think Tomlin is dumb enough to start Milroe day one. Honestly, if he drafts and starts Milroe day one then he should be fired and I like Tomlin a decent amountThe problem is Pittsburgh doesn’t have an established quarterback. And as for Tomlin…. He is not good at development when big egos are involved, and Milroe is one of the biggest egos entering the draft. If you don’t believe me about Tomlin then answer me this…. “Why did Pittsburgh only reach one AFCCG with Big Ben, Bell, and AB?” It’s because Tomlin let all 3 of them fight over nonsense. Heck we are already seeing it with Pickens telling people that he is about to openly request a trade. And if Milroe thought Alabama’s Oline was bad then wait until he sees Pittsburgh’s.
Pittsburgh is not a good situation for Milroe, but then again what is a good situation for a quarterback with no pocket presence or vision in the NFL?
It’s why I think most of the Milroe interest by the Steelers feels like bait more than actual real information. Really what benefit does the current quarterback room or the potential quarterback room have for a guy like Milroe. Mason Rudolph is not really doing him any favors by starting over him, and is mostly a sign that the Steelers had no answers for the quarterback position if he starts It’s like I said the Steelers are approaching a “win now or never do it” period much like the Rams were a few years ago and they have too high of a draft pick to really secure a good quarterback prospect outside of making a massive trade.I don't think Tomlin is dumb enough to start Milroe day one. I think you're right, it feels more like bait than it does genuine interest, especially for a first-round pick. I personally feel they get Rodgers or Wilson and beef up defense. They really don’t have time for another Kenny Pickett project.
I care. So what is your point?I don’t care where he gets drafted. The more pressing issue is people like you who think he’s being hated on because people point out the obvious flaws in his game. Id love to see him go to Pittsburgh. Cant stand that team.Milroe needs to go to a established organization, like Pittsburgh who have met with him, good organization, good coach and he can sit for one to two years and learn, otherwise I just don't see him making it as a long term QB
