I wonder why some have no problem with bank regulations but are against regulating business?
The problem is how you regulate businesses in certain industries. Are they useful and good regulations or are they overzealous nonsense?

California tried to help their housing issues but localities came in behind the state and put onerous regulations in place that made it hard to do what the state was trying to allow. Regulations are necessary in all industries, but they can be too burdensome without accomplishing anything. That's the problem most people have with many government regulations.

I agree with everything you said here. I own a business and am very aware that some regulations are counterproductive. OTOH, they are there to protect the public.

In my business, dentists would flush mercury and silver right into the sewer where it could eventually get into the water supply. TN gov made all dentists purchase a filter and have it installed into the suction system so that when we are removing silver fillings, the amalgam debris gets trapped. The filter has to be replaced periodically. The original filter and installation cost about $800 if I remember correctly. At any rate, some dentists complain, but it was the right thing to do.

Some regulations are absurd.

Absolutely correct. Regulations that protect the safety of people are paramount. Businesses will cut corners whenever they can. Their job is to make money. The government needs to regulate them for the "common good." They just don't need to go overboard.

From where I sit we've already collapsed -- socially, culturally, politically and economically -- we just cover up the corpse and keep silent while the money is distributed. I hate to be this pessimistic, but this is what I see and feel.
I hope 4Q's post on the first page is correct, but I fear you are right though.
