This exhibit may interest you if you're in or near the Mobile area (through April 24th)

The Dead Sea Scrolls: An Exhibit of Biblical Proportions

Thus begins the pilgrimage to Mobile, where the sacred and the secular will rendezvous at Government and Water streets. A multitude of 160,000, representing many faiths, creeds and religious persuasions, is expected to become part of an event thousands of years in the making when "The Dead Sea Scrolls: An Exhibit of Biblical Proportions" opens today at the Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center. The scrolls will remain on view through April 24.

Has anyone seen the exhibit? I'm thinking about making the drive . . .

my old lab pi at uab, a behavioral neurobiologist and evolution believer, was very religious and accounted it to her first seeing the scrolls. i had the pleasure of seeing the proto-human footprints frozen in ash at olduvai gorge, and the only term that describes the feeling is 'religious experience'--you feel insignificant and all-powerful at once.

you just in love with your little catoon aintya? people who've driven btwn tusc and montgomery know the place i'm talking about. some guy has crosses and spraypaint signs all over his property with phrases like 'burn in a flaming pool of your own wicked sin juice'.

I am rather fond of my little cartoon. And you forgot the signs on Interstate 65, just north of Prattville Alabama, one of them reading "Go to Church or the Devil will Get You".

Now the ones on the state highway I have heard about but had not seen them. These must present as much an issue for you as cancer would for me. Frightening.
