Going on.. Texas has won when Colt has not had great days. If Texas can contain the Bama rushing attack.. as Auburn did... doesn't McElroy have to have a career day to enable you to win?

I really wish there was Facepalm smilie lol

Most announcer, analyst, fans, everyone who has watched alabama play has said this quote over and over and over and over and over

Greg McElroy doesn't have win the game for alabama he just has too not lose it.

Which I might add, he has never done...lose a game. Now there's a stat McCoy can't claim!

Just Sayin' How can you say that the numbers are skewed gived a run heavy confrence? You have a 20, 13 and a 21 to hang your hat on. Please. Nebraska was horribly overrated with one of the wort O's I have seen in my lifetime. We will be better than that (Nebraska O) with our second string across the board. Florida thought they would make us pass and GMAC could't beat them. I saw what happened and your D OR O is not up to snuff with UF. I was praying you guys would win because TCU is the best team outside of UF and us. I think TCU is the most deserving and dangerous of the undefeated teams. You may not be the best team in your own state. I like our chances.;) Anything can happen and I guess that is why we play the games. Good luck!

One reason Texas has great stats against the running game is they come from a spread offense/pass happy conference. Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklohoma St., Kansas etc. are all pass happy offenses and do not depend on the run as a viable option for advancing the ball. It's almost as if they run the ball because they think they are supposed to do it every now and then. How many good RB's reside in the Big 12 conference? Also the Big 12 isn't known for great defense whether it's vs the run or the pass. Texas is the best the Big 12 has to offer. They are very capable of pulling out a win. If we go in thinking we are so great and worthy, it will be a long drive home. Bet it!

RGW, this matchup worries me. The largest % by far of our sacks given up have been by Carpenter being circled by athletic DEs. The solutions, of course, harm the offense substantially. And, Orange Guys, 504 is infamous for posting a thread entitled something like "Three things we absolutely must remedy immediately." He then has to duck all the bombs thrown his way... :D

LMAO.......... Yea I have dodged and in most cases have not had much luck in avoiding being hit with a few "haymakers" but you know I watch the game without the glasses on (well except the reading ones, dang age sucks) and I view the game from a standpoint of what we did well and what has to be fixed in order to continue towards an un-defeated season. I did not post one after the barn game because of 2 main reasons: 1. They are irrelevent. 2. They had no game plan just use the Barnum and Bailey playbook and try anything to win, makes it hard to say we did anything wrong just didn't execute until it counted MOST.
For the florida game I didn't post because quite frankly if we play that way in every game NO ONE will beat us. What I did was watch the texas games (all but nebraska) in the same light that I would any BAMA game. They have several issues whether they think I am being arrogant means nothing I see the game for what it is; offense, defense, special teams and compare it to what they did or did not do against the team they were playing. Obviously the NC will be a HUGE game and win or lose we will all be talking about it until National Signing day just like they will.

I will agree Earle, JC does still have some footwork issues but all things aside for a first year DIV I SEC LT he has done well beyond what I could have ever hoped for. Make no mistake the shoes he filled were some big'uns pun intended. What may have to happen is the TE whether Dial or whomever might have to lend him a hand or at least give the DE a nudge on the way out before looking for a pass or his assignment in the run block scheme. Honestly the only time he struggles is exactly what you said with fast DE around the edge.
What gives me the best hope is we can run the ball effectively and force them to respect it enough to slow him down and if not and he wants to speed rush outside let him and hit them with the delayed draw right where he is supposed to be covering.

Our LT against Kindle is my biggest concern too. I expect to see a TE line up to help or screens and draws to that side.

Here's a question for Alabama fans: how good are we at defending the short, quick, pass this year? That was our bane against Utah. This year, will our guys be in position quick enough to make the plays and cause incompletions? Texas is a fast team. I keep hearing their fans talk about how they will beat us with seven yard quick passes. Is Alabama used to seeing this and succeeding against it?

In the SEC they have a running game and developed passing game, and that's what we know how to defend. In the Big XII it seems that the quick pass game takes the place of the running game. Its the bread and butter of their offenses. I know we can defend developed pass plays, but what about the short pass game? Just wanted to hear what you guys thought.

Of course I still predict a Bama W.

As for turning in a "tebow like performance..." let's see.. Tebow has fewer yards passing than Colt.. fewer victories.. fewer passing touchdowns...

You go to 120 college football coaches and asked them if they preferred Colt right now or your quarterback right now... would there by fewer than 2 who would say your QB?

You have an outstanding team.. of that there is no dispute.

But... come now.
On the first point in that quote, Tebow plays in a much harder conference and has two national championships. Quantity of victories means nothing. Quality is what counts. Ask any quarterback whose career they would rather have, McCoy's or Tebow's? Of course that could change if he wins the NC this year, but I'm just saying, until he wins the big time, most people will see Tebow as the better player.

As for the second point, ask any coach what offense they would rather have right now. I'm saying Greg is in a better position to win because our game is so balanced and he knows it. Because he knows it he'll be able to play with more poise and won't have to take a lot of risks he isn't accustomed to. He can play like Greg. Colt is good, but he will have to play above his normal level. He will have to be perfect to beat us.

Greg could stand to play worse than he did against Florida and we still win.
People talk about Greg turning in a Tebow performance, but any Bama fan will tell you that's the first full game since Arkansas that Greg has been himself. Its not that he played great for his standards. Its more that he stopped trying to play great and played a natural game making decisions he was comfortable with.

They have another pretty sick lineman (Houston?) - IOW, it's not like we only have to worry about Kindle...
True, but we have have Johnson and Vlachos who have played well this year against quality DT's from places like OM, tenn, and ark. Carpenter has done very well with run blocking, but has struggled consistently against quick edge rushers. I am still pretty confident Bama wins, but that matchup is the most worrisome (along with our DB's against their WRs).

Look at any team/player stats all day....if desired. But one thing is certain, The Tide plays a very physical brand of football.

Can you say the same for the Longhorns?

I just had to edit a wee bit.. for accuracy's sake.
Actually it was already accurate. Pretty much everyone feels whoever won that game will win the NC. He didn't say the winner of that game would win it, he said most people felt they would. And its true. You can't deny that. That's why there's a four point Vegas line in spite of the fact that Texas has way more people in the state and especially more rich people who are putting money on Texas.

I'm surprised more Bama people aren't talking about this, among other things.

Maybe 'cause now that we beat the mighty Gators, it's pretty much impossible to lose to someone from the sissified Big 12, right?
