I was completely embarassed when the MTSU team ran out on the field and the entire Bama crowd booed them. THEN, on top of that those 80,000 ignorant fans had the nerve to boo the delightful, gracious, loving, couragous Blue Raider fans, when it came their turn to participate in the Wave. Come on folks, we may wear different colors, but when it is the wave, aren't we all on the same team?!?!

Damn liberals. Why do we have to worry about pleasing the minorities. If they don't like it, go somewhere else!!! This is the reason this country has turned into what it is. Can't say "hell" in a song that we have sung for 40 years. Now we can't sing the song if the opposing team doesn't meet certain qualifications. I think a petition needs to be started to get rid of our elephant mascot. I'm sure someone is offended. And how about when the University cutting down all those trees on the QUAD! Let's go ahead and boycott the remaining home games for the University destroying our Earth. The liberal tree huggers in New College probably aren't happy about the trees! President Witt should have ask those 34 people in the college if it wsa ok.

Get some common sense people. It's a song. It's not like it's the F word. You all should be happy that we've finally won a game and been able to say it.

Well, I've heard it all now -- the liberals are being blamed for Rammer Jammer not using the word H***. Perhaps we need to look more to the extremist, mean spirits, religious right that seems to want to rule our every thought and deed. By the way, for all those against liberals -- a liberal is one who espouses liberty -- so I guess you are against freedom and liberty too!

Sorry guys but...

I work in Tallahassee and I am around a bunch of Miami, FSU, and Florida fans talking smack...so I don't really see much worng with doing Rammer Jammer. The fans at Bama games are a lot more respectful than alot of Miami, FSU and Gator fans I know.

I was extremely embarrassed and dissappointed when our fans did that nasty ,nasty Rammer Jammer cheer at the end of the game last night !rtr...

...I am so extremely embarrassed and dissapointed when I read the posts on this board. Not to mention the things that come out of our fans mouths at the game. Aghhh, stop the complaining its just a game. The students want to do Rammer Jammer, hey let them after all they do ATTEND the university. The alumni I know have no issue with it.

Just like a radio or tv show you can change the channel. If you dont like the cheer, dont do it, if it offends you then leave early or wear earmuffs.

As for only doing it for certain opponents, GIVE ME A BREAK! As someone else stated above if we saved it fro our big rivials we wouldnt have heard it lately. YAWN, find something productive tyo complain or take a stand against. Not a cheer at a football GAME!

I would though like to suggest it not be used this week against Southern Miss due to the devastation they have gone through. Now that would be a good idea.

But really people get over it.

First of all, if we saved Rammer Jammer for our "big rivals" we probably wouldn't have heard it in the past three years or so, now would we?

Then we have no right to sing it, IMO. Celebrating because you beat a mid-tier CUSA opponent or a 1-AA team like Western Kentucky is like beating your chest because you whipped your little sister. That's what teams like Auburn do -- not teams like Alabama.

And secondly, Bama did, quite literally, "beat the hell out of" MTSU in the second half.

Then you didn't see the same game I did. We did better in the second half, but we hardly beat the he!! out of them. We only scored 17 points in the 2nd half, and they still stuffed almost every run up the middle. That's hardly something to brag about against a team which was not ranked in the top 50 in the country.

The most disrespectful thing I saw was all of the Bama "Fans" leaving with more than five minutes to go just so they can beat traffic. That not only disrespects the opponents, but the Tide as well. It is as if those fans are saying "Your efforts aren't good enough for me to stick around 'til the clock runs out." Everyone on this board is always so concerned about "supporting the team" but did anyone ever really stop to think what it would mean to the team if every time they played all of the Bama fans in attendance, whether the game is at home or not, were still there when time runs out.

Couldn't agree with you more. Its a long standing problem. Fans leave early when we are winning and even earlier when we're losing. I'm not sure if its demographics (an older fan base at Bama) or what, but I agree with you and don't like it either.

After all these years

Rammer Jammer is now somehow offensive to some? All these years and this is now an issue? 2005, the 21st Century this has become an issue because someone in Tennessee or elsewhere got their feelings hurt. WHAT! For the older fans on this board some of us have heard this cheer since day one. Funny, I am usually walking out and talking to a member of the other team and inviting their party out to eat (my treat win or lose). We hear the cheer and really think nothing of it. Its just part of Alabama football. What is the big deal? We get to the 21st Century and this is somehow an issue? Let us all pray for the victims of the Hurricane. Now that is a real issue!

I am not offended, but I do think its out of place at times. To sing Rammer Jammer after beating MTSU or Western Kentucky is like taking candy from a baby then bragging about how tough a man you are. I understand its mostly college kids doing it and that's OK -- I just don't join in unless we beat somebody worth braggin about. Beat Tennessee and I'll be screaming it to the top of my lungs :)

Dun duuuuuuu duh
Hey Raiders!
Dun duuuuuuu duh
Hey Raiders!
Dun duuuuuuu duh
HEY RAIDERS!
WE JUST WANTED TO WELCOME YOU!
FORGIVE OUR STAMMER!
IGNORE OUR CLAMOR!
BE A FRIEND TO ALABAMA!

Guys, I cannot believe people are getting their panties in a wad over this. Its tradition, and it must be said after every win. No matter if it is Oklahoma or Eastern Montana Tech. It is not like we are lying either, we did beat the hell out of them.

Rammer Jammer isn't bragging when you only do the cheer once. If fans had gone into a 10-verse rendition, that would be a different story. And I'm sorry, but only giving up 22 yards of offense in an entire half of football sounds like beating the hell out of somebody to me, no matter who it is. 22 yards. That is less than the one run that our fourth string TB had. Which was an off-tackle play, if I remember correctly. And the tackle box is in the middle of the field, usually.

We should have just held hands and sang kumbaya.
Exactly... give me a break. Are all you the same fans that sat on your hands the entire game and provided Bryant Denny with absolutely NO home field advantage last night? You all dissapoint the (GASP!! YES!!) HELL out of me.

Y'all were not listening close enought and making bad assumptions. If you had listened very close, the words have been change to "Give them HECK, Alabama".

Maybe one or two, said the "H" word. But there will be one bad apple in every group.

It makes our world better that we have become political correct. Lord knows we don't want to offend even one person... especially at a college football game.

I am so glad we have fans that have taken notice of this major PC infraction.

I take it you weren't sitting in the student section. I can guarauntee you that 95% of the students weren't singing your version. In fact, I'm pretty sure I can safely say that greater than 75% of the entire stadium wasn't singing your version. The word may have been officially changed, but that's not what the people are singing.

Anyway, I'm of the opinion that it should be sung before every game and after every victory. Although, if someone got offended and you had to remove one, I never understood why they took out the one before the game. It's much more offensive (which is to say, still not very offensice at all) to tell someone that we beat the hell outta them after the game, than to say we are going to beat the hell outta them before the game.

CrimisonStar: Do you really believe that we officially changed the "H" word to "Heck"? Think about that!

Read my post again. I was really trying to jerk around those that have to be political correct on every issue, especially with Rammer Jammer...

Couldn't Disagree More...

If this is the most offensive thing we can bring up, that's pretty mild.

Rammer Jammer is a tradition, it's fun, and I for one am glad to hear it, and quite frankly haven't heard it enough the past few years.

When it comes to being PC, I don't have much tolerance. Rammer Jammer is done in a spirit of tradition, and in itself is not mean-spirited, although I hope many teams this year take it that way.

JMHO...

What is it then? Why does only doing it once make it something other than bragging?

If fans had gone into a 10-verse rendition, that would be a different story.

I agree with you here -- it would have been ten times worse :)

And I'm sorry, but only giving up 22 yards of offense in an entire half of football sounds like beating the hell out of somebody to me, no matter who it is. 22 yards.

Really? I guess that's my problem. I didn't know what it meant to beat the he!! out of someone. I thought it meant dominating them the whole game -- not having a decent half against a second tier team from a lower tier conference.

That is less than the one run that our fourth string TB had. Which was an off-tackle play, if I remember correctly. And the tackle box is in the middle of the field, usually.

Now you're spinning. Yeah, we had a couple of runs up the middle late in the game when their D was tired, but here's reality -- we had four RBs and two QBs that combined for 133 yards rushing. Wahooo! We converted 4 third downs out of 11 (hey at least our punter got some practice).

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one, RTGal. Our performance was not bad, but we hardly beat the he!! out of MTSU. Maybe next week :)

Lets just all sing, "The more we get together, together, together, the more we get together the happier we'll be. 'Cause your friends are my friends, and my friends are your friends. The more we get together the happier we'll be." All I have to say is... if you feel like chanting Rammer Jammer... JUST DO IT!
