I haven’t thought about that in forever but in retrospect that was a bargain for the Lakers even with the early retirement.

When I first saw the headline, my first thought was who. Don't follow the NBA at all anymore so no idea who he is. Feels like he might be their Avery Johnson.

He won the championship in 2023 but got fired two years later with three games left in the season despite a 47-32 record.

I guess hiring a championship winning coach worked out so well for the football team they decided to try it in basketball.
