New coach search...

I'd like to think Sarah Patterson would get a look when the next AD is hired.
I don't think she is interested. She had some health issues as did her husband so I think they want to enjoy their retirement. I think it is highly unlikely that would ever happen, but you never say never.

I could see Boatright being Battles' successor. Shane Lyons just left and he was assumed to be the heir apparent so it would make a lot of sense. Marshall would get to deal with an AD he is comfortable with on a day to day basis. Boatright is familiar with Alabama and the challenges being the AD here presents. It looks like a win-win for both of them.

I hear Battle is now trying to get the Koch brothers to pay for a new stadium on our campus.

True, and the Tide playing on the first cinder-surfaced field in the country is a quid pro quo for the bro's turning Marshall loose on the yellow brick road to Tuscaloosa.

Presser: "You know Darron....I've got this feeling we're not in Kansas anymore."

Wonder who behind the scenes we are competing with besides WSU for Marshall. Any guesses?

The only other major job that is open right now (that I'm aware of) is Arizona State. I could see that as an attractive job but it depends on what he is looking for. One wonders if Howland had waited 1 more day would he have been in the running for the ASU job?

ASU talking to Jeff Capel according to Gary Parrish.

Either Marshall is playing us to get a big raise from WSU, or he's really, really open to the idea of coming to Tuscaloosa.

Marshall making the comment gives me more concern that his agent making it. I think I would have preferred to hear the glib coach speak of "I've got a team to prepare in the tournament" or "We're still playing and I'm 100% focused on that task at hand" or blah, blah, blah.

It's almost like a signal to WSU that "I want to stay here. You better show me some love 'cause I'm going to be talking"....

I certainly hope it is a situation of serious consideration and not playing for a raise. Like Cecil Hurt tweeted, we got "crazy" and "a lot" covered.

We need to relax. If he really wants to stay at WSU, then ok. The Bama job is light years ahead of WSU for a multitude of reasons. If Marshall is not our eventual guy, then there will be a multitude of great candidates who want the position. Anyone who doubts that it is a great job, needs to look at what the Athletic Department is willing provide to be great in any sport. Setting aside my crimson colored glasses, how many programs across the country have an athletic surplus of approximately $20 million dollars? How important will that be when the price goes up in the coming years for initiatives like (full cost of tuition, lifetime scholarships, expanded medical care, etc.). Even if the money is similar, the Bama job is light years ahead of WSU.

Does anyone really think that conferences do not matter? Being in the SEC, Big 10, Pac 37, etc. means more than ever. SEC Network is a huge benefit that no mid major can compete with.

This is what he said (Full Audio at the bottom of Link):

"I was a little shocked that that came out," he said. "I have no idea where that came from, but it's really something I don't have to deal with. Right now it's just rumor and conjecture. I have not spoken to Alabama. I'm coaching my team, and that's what I'm going to do, hopefully, for another couple of weeks. And if Alabama is still interested in talking to us with some type of crazy offer at that time, then we will certainly entertain that, but it's going to take some type of crazy offer to get us to leave Wichita State."

After listening to the interview I get a different gist from the statement. It means that it will take a "crazy offer" to get him to leave WSU. He didn't say "a lot".
