I just received an e-mail from Crimson Tide Sports Marketing about the no-delay game broadcasts. All I can say is wow at the $$ made from sports. :eek2:

New Crimson Tide Game-Day Radios Available This Fall For immediate release:

8/18/08 The Crimson Tide Radio Network and Live Sports Radio (LSR) are pleased to offer an exciting new product to enhance our fan's football game-day experience. Starting this fall, all Alabama football game-day broadcasts (both home and away games) will be offered to the fans with NO DELAY while at the stadium. These radios were tested during the 2008 A-Day Game at Bryant-Denny Stadium and the initial response was very enthusiastic. Alabama was one of only a handful of schools chosen to initially offer this radio product.

These hands-free radio receivers can be purchased through Live Sports Radio for a pre-season special price of $15 for the full season (no subscription fee or any other ongoing cost - this Crimson Tide radio will be yours to keep).

For the 2008 season opener vs. Clemson in Atlanta, this signal will be your only option to listen to the Crimson Tide Radio Network broadcast of Eli Gold while attending the game at the Georgia Dome. These radios will not be available for sale inside the Georgia dome - you must purchase them either in advance or at the LSR kiosks outside the stadium.

For more information: http://www.linkfw.com/lsr-alabama To place your order, please access www.livesportsradio.com or call (248) 720-0382.
Radios will also be available for purchase at the regular price of $20/ ea. prior to the 8/30 football game versus Clemson in Atlanta through LSR sales people outside the perimeter of the stadium and the 9/6 home opener vs. Tulane at the LSR kiosks in the Quad.

Wow, that's awesome. Thanks for the link. I gladly paid $15+shipping to be able to listen to a Eli Gold during the games with no delay. Besides, it also operates as a regular FM tuner outside of the games.

Given that this only goes over one ear and looks more like a bluetooth mobile phone headset, I'll be interested to hear how well these things work in the dome with all the noise.

I wish the delay was adjustable.

Unfortuately I doubt I'll be making many if any at all games at BD this season. What I'd like to see is a signal that could be delayed enough to mirror Dish Network.

That would be cool for me and maybe the other thousands of people who can't make it for game day.

Never been able to try it, but i would think XM radio would be pretty close with the delay on the Dish.

I received mine yesterday... It is also an FM radio.. If you hold the up and down buttons DOWN it will go to the 5 E channels , which is where the live brodcasts will be, hold em down again and it is a FM radio. Works great, sounds great and just like a blue tooth, pretty comfortabl.... I do recommend one....

There are satellite radio receivers with pause capability that would allow you to delay the audio.

They are reasonably priced, but like Brett, I wonder how well you'll be able to hear above the crowd noise? I've had radio earbuds jammed in both ears and not been able to hear when it gets loud at BD.

It also appears that the broadcasts are for this season, so I wonder if you have to purchase another one for next season?

Still a good deal if the sound quality is clear and loud enough.

Does anyone know if these will work for any of the other broadcasts listed on their site, provided you are in range?

I bought one for the couple of Bama games I will se this season (Clemson and WKU), but I see that there is an Atlanta Falcons NFL broadcast as well and I am a season ticket holder for the Falcons. Does anyone know if the Bama radio I purchased will pick up the Falcons broadcast in the Dome during Falcons games?

Thanks.

Just to clarify... I guess I am just slow to pick things up sometimes.

Will I still be able to listen to the broadcast (with delay I suppose) with my Walkman at home games? Or will all spectators have to purchase this radio to hear the broadcast?

If this is going to be something similar to pay per listen type thing, I would hope they would have advertised this more widely. There are going to be a lot of surprised and angry fans if they cant listen to the broadcast during the games.

It would seem that I would still be able to tune into a local station in the area to hear the broadcast.

I understand that UA needs to make money for the program. But between Gene Hallman and his Quad folly and now this, it is getting pretty hard to keep up. And I consider myself someone who will reach pretty deep into my pocket to enjoy Bama games. But even I have my limits.

Well I decided to try one if it will keep me from having to search the entire network spectrum and if they do as advertised, then the 20 bucks spent will be worth it..................I'll still bring the ol back up just in case.

Brett I'll be glad to givea report out once I get back home. I also only bought one, so if others are in quesion they may want to hold unless they want to hear my report about the FM band that is also available on the headset. I got mine yesterday via USPS.

Is there a special button where we can mute anytime Tom Roberts speak? I can't believe they're actually going to him as color analyst.
