I don't know about the rest of you but, I'm tired of talking about the HC and coaches, let's talk abou the players and what we have to forward to next year.
If I'm not mistakened, we only lose one Senior off the Offensive line, Tatum. With the signing class last year of Motely:6-2 274, Pharr: 6-6 270,Ross: 6-4 295, Stadler: 6-6 300 and this years returning players, we should be loaded on the OL. The defensive backfield will be OK, the Def. Line should be OK. The real problem may be at Running Back. The returning backs if they can stay healthy will be OK since we have Wilson back.
No matter who the Coach is, we should have more talent next year. I am exicited about what we can do in 2007.
It's not my call about Shula, but I think we need to get behind the players and whoever is the Coach and support them.
I have been both supportive and critical of the staff this year, but I have stopped as right now. I am behind this team and Coaches 100%, no mattered what...

The players we have coming back mean absolutely nothing until the people coaching them begin to use them and develop them in a better way. So it is a waste of time talking about the "talent" we'll have next season. As of right now this offensive staff is squeezing the life out of some very talented players and what should have been a potent offense in 2006. We could only muster a pitiful 16 pts a game against SEC teams this season.

We've got coaching issues at Alabama right now, so bad that it makes null and void any type of "talent" we've got on the field.

Please, people.

There's a whole board filled with posts about the coaches. BFiG specifically tried to start a thread about something else. Can we PLEASE not turn this thread into a coach thread also???

BamaFan, I like our situation on the OL with all the new recruits. And I'm not really worried about the RB situation - we know we've been recruiting some good ones - although FB will be hard to replace.

I'm more worried about the DL because of the lack of pressure our guys seemed to be able to put on the opposing QB this year. What's the situation with next year's DL?

Regardless of who is coaching next season we will have great talent. Here is what I am thinking as far as the starting line-up on the Offense for next season, feel free to chime in. One change I hope to see is an improved O-Line. Maybe Evan Cardwell can step up at center so Caldwell could be freed up to play RT. That position killed us this season. What do y'all think? I am especially interested in what Jess thinks.

LT : Andre Smith
LG : Justin Britt
C : Evan Cardwell
RG : Marlon Davis
RT : Antoine Caldwell
QB : J.P. Wilson
FB : Baron Huber
TB : Jimmy Johns
WR : D.J. Hall
WR : Keith Brown
WR : Will Oakley
TE : Nick Walker

When do Fanney and Washington step up on the defensive front?

As for the OL, I hope we find a better fit at RT. I was not sold on the personnel at the LG position this year either.

Britt - I'm hoping he gets in the weight room and really dedicates himself. I'm not sold on him yet, Capps was really harped upon this year, but this guy needs to pick it up too. To be fair, I think there are others on that OL that need to be gym rats too.

Davis - I'm hoping he emerges into the player that I think he can be. I had high hopes for this guy when he arrived.

I think we will be better on both sides of the ball. I think we will see at least 2 new starters on the O line. I think we will be able to get 3 yards anytime we want to. I think there will be great competition at running back and that we will be able to run inside and outside. I think our depth and ability at receiver will be the envy of any team and that because of the skill at QB teams won't be able to load up on the run or the pass and thus get killed by either or both. I think we will be so good that our Coach actually starts to have fun. That fun is contagious and our players will go to even greater heights. Heck, even our fans might have a little fun. Wait, that might be pushing it.

BB said what a lot of people are thinking right now... therefore, let's all stay on the topic for the remainder of this thread w/o putting in our two cents worth to his comments. Thanks in advance.

The guy from Germantown makes and excellent point and I for one applaud that sentiment. Shula, I'm very sure, is the man next year and we just need to lick our wounds and support him and the team. It may not be pretty, but them boys is ours. Let's get behind them.

That certainly would be a great lineup! Unfortunately, I'm afraid we might get flagged for having 12 men on the field a few times...

Heck I get excited every year. 2007 will be an exceptionally talented team. I worry more about the linebacker position.

The starters are there in most of the positions. Depth will be an issue if we have any injuries, especially at QB and RB.
McElroy is waiting in the wings. Jimmy Johns, Roy Upchurch, and Terry Grant at RB not to mention Ali Sherrief if it comes to that. WR: Brown, Hall, Oakley, Stover, McCoy. There is NO excuse for Alabama to have such an impotent offense with these guys. Just ridiculous talent. There ARE athletes on this "probation plagued" team believe it or not.

:BigA: Next year can be great if we can just average 26-28 points a game! As long as we score under 20 week to week we'll never make it back to where we belong..THE TOP!! :BigA:

I agree with you about linebacker. I figure we will have at least a solid defense as long as Kines is here, but it is on offense that we could really make that next step forward. We all know Prince Hall will start at MLB, but who on the outside? I expect Zach Schreiber to be one of the OLB's, maybe Woodall at the other spot? I have heard great things about Woodall and Kines puts emphasis on the LB spot, so I figure he will want a player of Woodall's caliber there. I am unsure of the CB spot as I have seen a lot of names thrown about who could potentially play. How about this potential lineup on defense next season?

DE : Wallace Gilberry
DT : Lorenzo Washington
DT : Brandon Deadrick
DE : Bobby Greenwood
OLB : Zach Schreiber
MLB : Prince Hall
OLB : Justin Woodall
CB : Simeon Castille
CB : Lionel Mitchell
CB : Chris Rogers
FS : Corey Reamer
SS : Marcus Carter

If we finish with six wins then we have beat absolutely noboby to write home about. I know this season has been tough but remember we are only one season removed from 10 wins. There is no reason for me to think we can't win 8-9 of these games or more. The W's I put on here are just the games we should definitely win, I put FSU on there because they have melted down. UGA is good but nothing special. I believe we will beat the barn next season as well, eventually it has to happen. Running the table would be very difficult but not impossible. I have been looking forward to '07 for quite a while and I still think we will have the team to compete with anyone. Roll Tide Roll.

I know its a long way off but for what its worth, the Ark game will be huge and may swing the season one way or another.Just like this season.A made FG or PAT and who knows what kind of confidence we have this season.LSU and Ark are gonna be real tough not to mention Auburn.
