I was wondering that as well. SM took over the position from DD last year and was an improvement. And I don’t remember any snap issues like this.

I do find it hard to believe that all of a sudden Seth can’t snap a football. There are no alpha dogs on that team. Like last year, your biggest names are soft-spoken, and passive.

What this team needs more than anything right now, is a Tony Brown. Mark Barron. Landon Collins. Jonathan Allen. AJ, McCarron. DJ Fluker. Ryan Anderson.

Some players that play with emotion. Players that play to impose their will.

Best case scenario is that, if J.M. is not the man, the next man up is.... whether it's TB or TS or DL . It does seem that JM "won the team" in the spring and in August. Understandable. He's humble, a team guy... a worker. Gifted athlete. Says something positive about the team that they wanted him to have a shot. He may be near his ceiling though.... Chances are, the current back-ups are not at theirs. However it pans out, looking for much growth in that position in the next month....
Milroe won the team but never the competition. I think that’s a huge issue when you consider that he is the 4th best quarterback reading defenses and hitting the mid range ball.

The thing is that Saban has never been firm in what he wants to do about it. It was obvious that he wanted Simpson to win the job in the spring and when it didn’t happen it was obvious that Buchner was the guy he wanted to win the job in the fall. He has had some obvious reservations about Milroe and has let this become a locker room vs staff struggle because he couldn’t tell Milroe to either switch positions or I’ll help you transfer. It’s devolved into a circus after MTSU and pumping the “Lank” nonsense. We pretty much wasted much needed reps for TB and TS in the MTSU game to have Milroe break records. At some point you have to have options if plan A fails.

The guy is super talented and is a good human being but a quarterback that can run this offense he is not at this point.

Yeah, pretty sure losing is a good way for the team to get on board with whoever is actually is the best qb.

I am the biggest Saban mark you will ever find. but I am critical of how he has handled this situation.

Yep, there ya go, setting the stage to either start him or get him significant playing time this weekend. I'm certain after the coaches watched the film, a lot of realities set in about the current QB situation.

But again, that doesn't absolve the crap show that was the Oline and all the big talk in the offseason about "murder ball" then they go out there and get their jock straps tied in a bow around their necks by Texas' DL. ZERO excuse...
Might be time to move some pieces on the chess board and let some others play................I'd certainly like to see some other QBs out there..........probably wouldnt have hurt to put them in during the 4th quarter

FTR I don’t know if TB, TS, or DL are good enough to win us a national championship but they are better at running Rees’s offense. I still feel we might have needlessly put ourselves behind the 8 ball by taking the Milroe experiment too far. When you start seeing players start using things like “lank” (Let all Naysayers Know) after MTSU it kinda makes you think if they really believe that they got the right guy or are they trying to convince themselves that they do. You never saw this kinda stuff when Blake Sims was getting peppered by negative hot takes throughout the summer and fall…. They already knew that everyone was wrong about Sims and the football field would be the best place to shut them up.

My best guess is that DD was getting blown up, and SM was flustered trying to make the snap and be able to slide over quicker than he normally would to help. Agree it was a debacle and I hope whatever it was, he gets fixed fast.

Even if we aren’t good enough to win the title this season. Just play the best guy. It’s not that complex or deep. (I am directed this at the staff not you 81) I swear coaches could overthink and screw up the cure for cancer.

Not winning a national title for 3 straight seasons isn’t the death sentence that Paul finebaum says it is.

Counterpoint: we had Scott Cochran on video break our runner up trophy in 2017 and used to have a turnover belt..we had “never again”…as a mantra

Not saying your wrong but bama hasn’t always been above gimmicks.

Well since we are #1 in excuses now, did MTSU have 2 first rounders or were they using exotic blitzes? I want to make sure I have my talking points straight next game they bomb.
Both..Texas did have 2 1st round starters and MTSU did use exotic blitzes. Not defending our o-line but not every point that doesn’t end in “our guys just suck” is an excuse.

That’s fair but I would say it was more angled at a standard than a feeling. If you really got a true answer from saban of his favorite teams then he probably says 2003 lsu, 2015 Bama, and 2020 Bama…. Why? Because they policed themselves and went out and kicked people’s teeth in and didn’t care what people said.

Counterpoint: it’s easy to look back at those things with hindsight and say they were angled to a standard cause it did eventually worked out. Had those things turned out like 2022 they would be so viciously mocked now. Once again, you make a lot of good points and I am not saying you are wrong. The LANK thing is lame but 18-22 year old are corny and lame. They get off on that crap. I guess we are just going to see how it all plays out.

In 2003 lsu team scored a whopping 7 points against an 8-5 Florida team
The 2015 bama team got beat by a ole miss team that ended up losing to Memphis and I think that was the year we introduced the turnover belt
The 2020 bama team looked like they would never stop a single team from scoring more than 40 points. after the ole miss game with number 3 Georgia on the horizon the next week.
