I know from what everyone is saying, that Alabama can’t compete with both Texas schools in regards to NIL money, but how far is Alabama behind when it comes to this? What’s being done to turn this into our advantage? Thanks!

this is an adjustment period for us. Initially, we had a Saban-based-discount with regard to NIL $. With Saban gone, we'll have to step up our game.

Well, the articles posted in the transfer portal about Proctor seem to show we have some work to do. He claimed the NIL package @ Iowa was better than Bama. If true, that’s unacceptable. The Saban discount is gone.
Way behind to answer your question. CNS warned the boosters that they were going to have to have whole new mindset going forward and that other schools were upping their game concerning NIL and the collectives and everything else.

Maybe, but he may be the only 5 star on the Iowa roster. Alabama has to pay for a bunch of these guys. I would bet that Alabama's total NIL spend dwarfs that of Iowa.
The fans raised over $100,000 for NIL the day Proctor hit the portal. They didn't want to take chances.

Ahead of many schools, but unfortunately rather significantly behind others, some of whom are direct competitors. I LOATHE NIL, but that is now a cornerstone of today's collegiate athletics, so we definitely have to build it up.
i use to be a HUGE baseball fans. But my interest has went way, way down in the last 20 or so years. There is too imbalance between the teams and how much they can pay to keep their stars. College football seems to be heading that way.
Ok, so we set up a shell company in Dubai that sells the Bama athletic program tons of Widgets, that company trades with a shell company in Denmark that trades with a shell company in Pakistan that trades with a shell company in Costa Rica, that trades with a shell Company in Belgium that trades with a shell company in The Cayman Islands that buys Widgets from the Crimson Houndstooth collective that signs contracts with Bama athletes for promoting SUPERIOR Widgets. Voila, I just funded a Bama NIL with Tens of Millions of Dollars . Let’s go get some players Boys and Girls. No donors, no begging or pandering. Just Using some of the millions the football program is bringing in to keep the fire burning.
No question that it`s essential to upgrade the financial incentives and payouts ( that`s what it is in reality ), but are there non-financial practices ( see Iowa ) in which we`re currently not engaged that we should be?

So I realize there's a way to register and donate to the Bama collective but I'm just an average fan and what I give I give to my church.
I'm sure this will be a way to raise money for the collective for fans who want to donate (that's everybody's free will choice).
But if some big changes are going to occur, who are the uber-rich Bama celebrities out there?
We've got a bunch of recently minted multi-millionaires that CNS put in the league, but I'm talking about rich people who just love Bama and would be willing to donate some significant funds.
Like who's our Yella Wood Guy, or Nike Guy or Boone Pickens guys/gals???
I'm sure this will be a way to raise money for the collective for fans who want to donate (that's everybody's free will choice).

It is not clear that this mercenary model will work for football. Football is ultimately a team game built on coherence and repetition unlike basketball which is sheer athleticism. It takes years to build an identity. This is where Texas A&M failed. They were a bunch of paid guys who had nothing that bound them. Even in the NFL there are contracts that define the duration of your stay.

I don't think the donations to an NIL collective by fans like us is the main objective. I agree, I won't donate either.
But some ordinary folks donate and a few million will probably be raised this way.
But the BIG MONEY is going to have to come from BIG MONEY people.
I honestly do not understand giving money to a college kid that might make your favorite team good/great. I guess I prefer not throwing money away when I really get nothing in return. Maybe I am just used to being poor to middle class so I am more guarded with my money?
